description
He was a humanist: a poet, a bibliophile, a painter … and more. His poetry, in two collections (Poezije, 1904 and 2003; Kitica mojih, 1929 and 2003), indicates musical and dance elements. In their rhythmic-metrical arrangements and rhymes, these point to a poet of fine sensibility. Many Slovene compositions using his poetry have been written for choirs: male’s, mixed, female’s, and youth choirs, solo songs, and even chansons. They were written and signed by F. Gerbič, G. G. Krek, the most by E. Adamič, J. Jež, J. Golob, A. Kumar, A. Misson, M. Reichenberg, J. Ivanušič (chansons), etc. T hree instrumental marches written by composers K. Klima (F. Es and J. Šalamon), S. Avsenik, Jr., and T. Habe directly connect soldiering and poetry in one and the same interdisciplinary activity of General Rudolf Maister.
