Ballet dancers face the difficult task of combining aesthetic and physical components; from them, we expect a certain body shape, daily exercise and top technique, exceptional mobility, uniformity in appearance and ease of movement. On the other hand, we want to see an artistic expression on stage that convinces us as spectators, so we could say that ballet is still a more artistic form of dance, as its primary purpose is to express moods, emotions, story through movement. Ballet technique and superior motor skills are extremely important for a successful ballet dancer, but they are not enough themselves to represent the full significance of ballet. The theatrical actor expresses himself with words and facial expressions, the opera singer manipulates the voice and the cartoonist the line. The ballet dancer uses movement as a means of expression. If we dig deeper and explore the history, we discover that ballet's origin, purpose, and essence are more tied to art. Ballet originates from theatrical performances and court dances and still preserves their tradition. The ballet dancer is thus the bearer of the content – the story – and interprets it in connection with the music. In addition to good technique, a professional dancer is also required to pay attention, express emotions, have presence, creativity, artistry, communication and relationship with the audience. Dancers are great aesthetes and their role on stage is to be appealing to spectators. The audience, watching the ballet dancers on stage, is in a state of anticipation, empathising with the performance and admiring each dancer's beauty, passion, and charisma.
