Notes
A Practical Guide to Dialogic Gatherings in Adult Learning presents a comprehensive and practice-oriented framework for planning, facilitating, and reflecting on dialogic gatherings in diverse adult learning contexts. It is grounded in the scientifically established methodology of dialogic learning and draws on several years of applied experience gained through European projects, most notably the A-CLASE project (2023–2025). The guidebook conceptualises dialogic gatherings as structured yet open spaces of egalitarian dialogue, where all participants – including the moderator – engage as equal contributors in the co-creation of meaning. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of the moderator as an equal participant rather than an instructor, the careful selection of universal and intellectually demanding texts, participant preparation, the creation of safe and inclusive learning environments, and ethical considerations when working with diverse and potentially vulnerable groups of adult learners. The content is enriched with concrete examples from practice in Slovenia, Türkiye, and the wider European context, and complemented by a set of practical tools, templates, and guidelines for the planning, documentation, and evaluation of dialogic gatherings. The guidebook is intended for facilitators, adult educators, volunteers, and professionals working in educational and community-based settings, as well as for all those seeking to implement inclusive, reflective, and ethically grounded approaches to adult learning. This publication contributes to the understanding of dialogic gatherings not only as a pedagogical method, but as a transformative practice that fosters critical thinking, empathy, social cohesion, and active participation in lifelong learning.
