On May 25, 2018, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force. All organisations processing or keeping EU residents' personal data had to adapt accordingly, regardless where an organisation or institution is registered. Although archives are included in the Regulation, the Regulation did not prejudice the existing archival legislation of the EU member states. On the contrary,it supported them and recognised the important social role and historical function they perform. This paper presents the key aspects of archival legislation in relations to GDPR, and certain questions regarding personal data protection and archival material in the RTV Slovenija Archive and Documents Department.
