The article examines the legal regulation of social networks in the EU, focusing on the Digital Services Act (DSA). The DSA introduces a series of measures to ensure the security and privacy of users and to prevent the spread of illegal content. Key measures include the exclusion of the obligation of general content control, a system of notification and action, and legal protection for users, providing clear explanations for the removal of content and mechanisms for complaints. The ADS also prohibits the use of dark patterns, requires transparency of online advertising and recommendation systems, and ensures the protection of minors. Very large online platforms, including the most influential social networks, must regularly assess and mitigate systemic risks such as the spread of illegal content and the impact on fundamental rights and public safety. The adoption of the ADA represents a major turning point, requiring social networks to adapt their policies and practices to comply with the new rules, setting high standards for platform accountability and data protection and abuse prevention.
