The article deals with the stations in the lives and literary work of the writers Milena Mohorič and Branka Jurca during World War II and straight after it. During the war, both writers went through hell in concentration camps where they were held as political prisoners. They verbalised their sufferings in literary writings; Branka Jurca in her collection of novellas titled Pod bičem (1945), Milena Mohorič in her collection of feuilletons titled Motivi z Raba (1946). A few years after the end of World War II, Jurca retreated from direct politics and dedicated herself to educational work, editing and writing. She was one of the most prominent writers of young adult fiction at the time of socialism. Mohorič was suspected of working for Cominform and, after 1948, became a victim of the revolution that she was a participant of.
