APPROVAL OF THE AGREEMENT RELATING TO THE CONVERSION OF „LICEO MUSICALS TRIESTINO“ INTO A STATE INSTITUTION
WHEREAS it is considered necessary to approve the Agreement entered into, pursuant to Article II of Order No. 68, dated 20 April 1953, by the „Liceo Musicale Triestinothe Allied Military Government, the Province of Trieste and the Commune of Trieste, in that part of the Free Territory of Trieste administered by the British-United States Forces,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SIR JOHN WINTERTON, KCMG, CB, CBE, Major General, Zone Commander,
ORDER:
ARTICLE I
The agreement entered into, on 15 June 1954, by the „Liceo Musicale Pareggiato Triestino“, the Allied Military Government, the Province of Trieste and the Commune of Trieste for the conversion of the said „Liceo“ into a State Institution with effect from 1 July 1953, is hereby approved.
ARTICLE II
The Agreement, duly registered, shall be deposited at the Office of the Zone President of Trieste and a copy thereof at the offices of all signatory Bodies, where it may be freely inspected by all persons concerned.
ARTICLE III
This Order shall become effective on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. Dated at TRIESTE, this 9th day of August 1954.

ESTABLISHMENT OF A TECHNICAL-ADMINISTRATIVE COMMITTEE AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND UTILITIES — AMENDMENTS TO ORDER No. 138/1953
WHEREAS it is considered necessary to make certain amendments to Order No. 138, dated 9 December 1953, establishing a Collegiate Body to advise on matters of public works at the Department of Public Works and Utilities, in that part of the Free Territory of Trieste administered by the British-United States Forces,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SIR JOHN WINTERTON, KCMG, CB, CBE, Major General, Zone Commander,
ORDER:
ARTICLE I
The following paragraph is hereby added to the fifth paragraph of Article III of Order No. 138, dated 9 December 1953:
„Whenever the Committee is required to give its opinion on projects concerning railway, tramway, trolley-bus or rope-railway constructions, or, to deal with matters involving railway services or services on roads, either a Representative of the Railway Administration or a Representative of the „Ispettorato della Motorizzazione Civile e dei Trasporti in coneessione“ nominated by the Department of Transportation, as the case may be, shall attend the meetings relating thereto.“
ARTICLE II
Article IV of Order No. 138, dated 9 December 1953, is hereby repealed and replaced by the following:
„In the absence of the Chief, Department of Public Works and Utilities, the Committee shall be presided over by the Deputy Chief of same Department.
The duties of Secretary to the Committee shall be discharged by a permanent (,,di ruolo“) official entrusted therewith by the Chief, Department of Public Works and Utilities.
The members of the Committee shall be paid at rates to be fixed by the Directorate of Finance and Economics on the advice of the Chief, Department od Public Works and Utilities.“
ARTICLE III
This Order shall become effective on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette and its provisions shall be operative from the same date as those of Order No. 138, dated 9 December 1953.

EXTENSION TO FOREIGN INSTITUTIONS OF FISCAL PRIVILEGES IN FAVOUR OF GIFTS MADE FOR PURPOSE OF CHARITY, INSTRUCTION OR EDUCATION
WHEREAS it is deemed advisable to issue provisions for the extension to foreign institutions of the fiscal privileges in favour of gifts („liberalità“) made for purposes of charity, instruction or education in that part of the Free Territory of Trieste administered by the British- United States Forces ;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, SIR JOHN WINTERTON, KCMG, OB, OBE, Major General, Zone Commander,
ORDER:
ARTICLE I
The provisions of art. 1 of R. If. L. 9 April 1925, No. 380, converted into the Law 21 March 1926, No. 597, and those of Article IX, third and fourth paragraphs, of Order No. 56, dated 3 April 1950, are hereby extended to legally recognized foreign Institutions having their registered Office in the Zone or abroad, provided the gift is specifically made for purposes of charity, instruction or education and subject to reciprocity of treatment in the State to which the foreign Institution belongs.
The foregoing paragraph shall also apply to those gifts made before 17 March 1953 in respect of which the relative duties have not already been paid.

This Order shall become effective on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette

REPAYMENT OF EXCISE DUTY ON PETROLEUM CONTAINED IN THE PRODUCT „INSECTICIDE D.D.T. EXTRA“, WHEN SAME IS EXPORTED
WHEREAS it is deemed advisable to repay the excise duty on petroleum contained in the „insecticide D.D. T. extra“ when the same is exported, in that part of the Free Territory of Trieste administered by the British-United States Forces,

ARTICLE I
Manufacturers of the „insecticide D.D.T. extra“ are hereby granted the privilege of repayment of excise duty on petroleum contained in the insecticide exported under bill Mod. A/55.

AUTHORITY TO „ENTE DI CULTO OPERA VILLAGGIO DEL FANCIULLO“ OF OPICINA
TO ACCEPT AN INHERITANCE
WHEREAS the „Ente di Culto Opera Villaggio del Fanciullo“, with office at Opicina, has submitted an application for authority to accept an inheritance bequeathed to it by Cossutta Virginia daughter of the late Giacomo ; and
WHEREAS the above application has been duly approved by the Office of the Zone President and there is no objection thereto,

No. 5254, dated 5 April 1954, of Notary dott. Giuseppe Boschini.
2.	This Order shall become effective on the date it is signed by me.

AUTHORITY TO CHANGE THE SURNAME
WHEREAS Mr. Onorato NIGRIS, son of Anna Nigris widow of Giuseppe Zorni, born at Trieste on 13 August 1919, residing at Trieste, Via Vidali No. 2, has complied with the legal formalities required to obtain the change of his present surname NIGRIS to that of „ZORNI", according to the authority granted to him by the Director of Legal Affairs on 20 March 1954, and
WHEREAS said person has now made application in order that the requested change of surname be effected,
WHEREAS the provisions of Title VIII, Chapter I of R.D. 1238 of July 9, 1939 on the Rules and Regulations on the Civil Status have been complied with and no objections have been raised,

1.	The surname of Mr. Onorato NIGRIS is hereby changed to that of „ZORNI“.

1946, a public Teachers’ Competition („Consorso magistrale“) based on titles and examinations for eleven posts as teacher in the Elementary Schools of the British-United States Zone of the Free Territory of Trieste.

EXCHANGE OF THE BANK OF ITALY PROVISIONAL INSTRUMENTS AND NOTES AND OF 10 LIRE AND 5 LIRE „ITALMA“ METAL COINS
Notice is hereby given that the term of 30 June 1954 established by Order No. 73, dated 9 May 1953, for the substitution of the Bank of Italy 5000 Lire and 10.000 Lire provisional instruments and of the Bank of Italy 50 Lire and 100 Lire notes as well as of the Bank of Italy 500 Lire and 1000 Lire notes of the various types (with the exception of those of the „1946 type“, referred to in D.M. 15 March 1947), as well as by Order No. 110, dated 7 August 1953, for the substitution of the „Italma“ alloy metal coins of 10 Lire and 5 Lire denominations, whose manufacture and issuance were authorized by D.L.L. 8 May 1946, No. 419, is hereby extended until 30 September 1954.
Such term having expired, the notes not presented to the Bank of Italy and the coins not presented to the Treasury Section for substitution shall prescribe.

SAMPLE SURVEY OF LIVING CONDITIONS OF FAMILIES
The Census & Survey Office, within the Directorate of Interior, pursuant to the powers contained in Order No. 12, dated 12 February 1953, hereby announces that it has authorized the taking of a sample survey of living conditions of approximately 5% of the families resident in the Communes of the British-United States Zone of the Free Territory of Trieste.
This survey will be taken on or about 15 September 1954.
