Mining is an industry that has been defined throughout history and even today by difficult and dangerous working conditions that pose an increased risk of damage to health, injury, or even death for miners. Therefore, it is not surprising that various activities are taking place both on the international and Slovenian levels, aiming to reduce accidents and improve working conditions and the safety and health of miners. If a high level of safety culture should be achieved, it is necessary to ensure the coordinated actions of all key actors (e.g. the International Labour Organisation, the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, state), and in particular employers and employees. In the article, after the presentation of historical views, the author presents an analysis of selected legal regulations, international and national, essential for ensuring safety and health at work in mining, as a traditional industry.
