The Slovenian Chamber of Engineers is a legal entity of public law, which unites authorised engineers, active in the field of building construction, such as planners, supervisors, managers of work at building site, auditors and land surveyors. The reasons for its founding, its goals and tasks are defined in the Building Construction Act. On one hand, this provides it with new possibilities of operation while, on the other, it closes the door for it. At least, this is how some of the tasks are seen by the national and local administration and their bodies. Where are the limits of the Chamber's operation, how far can its professionalism reach, and what will be its role in the future? Which tasks need a legal foundation in the new law, which manages the operation of the Chamber of Engineers and is being prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, and which do not?
