Wood is human material, stone is cold, hard and heavy. It is normal: deals aredifferent. In espiqueiro /Portugal we can find wooden details in stone. Is it really possible? Vernacular architecture is composition of needs, possibilities, skillness of builders, circumstances in time and in space. Culture of builder is notthe last attribute. The fact is that vernacular architecture in Europe is very severe, even in very small areas of man's life.Possibilities are fruits of the Earth. It is simple:to gather, Problem ishow to pre-serve them fortomorrow,forthe Winter. Technology means drying at first, storing too. But, combination of drying and storingtogether can be muchmore simplified, with less work and more effect. With use of brains. Threesolutions: espiqueiro, horreo and koruznjak: first object comes from Portugal, second from Spain and the third from Slovenia. Conclusions are as follows: it is the same idea, the same shape and the same use. Made of local materials, there are in rural space of all the Europe, objects of brilliant architecture, invented in the same time, so far away. Our fathers were not stupid, they have been used their brains. Wood influenced its typics into stone, definitelly.
