There is a growing trend of public awareness about the importance of good governance in the private and public sectors. Governance and related topics have become, both explicitly and implicitly, important issues for business, government, politics, professional public and, last but not least, the general public. Given that codes limit or significantly reduce bad practices in corporate governance, it would also make sense to consider the development of a public sector corporate governance code. A decision on a uniform code involving all public law entities or an individual code that would apply only to public institutes would require a thorough analysis of the current situation in the field of public institutes in Slovenia (number, size, organisation, management structure, etc.) and also more broadly (for selected (comparable) public law entities).
