As we did in 1976, we undertook field studies of the 1998 earthquake activity in the upper Soča region. The consequences caused by natural disasters in a particular region always have multi-layer dimensions. It is therefore no coincidence that very diverse groups of researchers participated in these studies. The work of research groups in the "Effects of the Earthquake of April 12, 1998, in the Bovec Region on the Buildings, People, and Environment" project was coordinated by the Civil Engineering Institute ZRMK. Also participating in this project was the Anton Melik Geographical Institute from the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts in the Department of Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University in Ljubljana. In this paper, only a few geographical dimensions of the consequences of the last two major earthquakes in the upper Soča region are presented.
