Subject of the article is the issue of the possibility for incorporation of ethical standards in the international sales contract, which is subject to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) and the consequent possibility of assessing conformity of the goods. Firstly, the author shows the influence of recent development trends in the field of ethical production of the goods. It is explained that trends in ethical awareness of the society reflects upon international sales market and its actors. Secondly, the author advocates for the necessity to take non-physical features of the goods into account when assessing quality of the goods. Possible ways of incorporation of such ethical standards are extensively presented, some of them offering incorporation without parties% agreement. In the second part of the contribution, analysis of remedies in event of non-conforming goods due to lack of ethical standards is carried out. The author concludes with general remark that although there is need to promote such legal activities, special consideration must be placed upon the fact that the nature of the CISG, as an instrument of unification, has its limits in interpretation.
