Morality and value-sets are explained from the economist's perspective. Those of us who argue for a more normative approach and greater regulation of the market mechanism place moral principles as a vital and indispensable element in the orderly functioning of the state. Those economists who view constraints and regulations of the market mechanism primarily as an obstacle to the efficient functioning of the economy view moral principles not as a normative category, but rather through the lens of positive economics.
