Slovenian social democracy or the social camp in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (Kingdom of SHS) positioned themselves, in the question of social, idea and political role of the Church and its clerical and lay members, in the demand for the separation of Church and State, Church and education. Slovenian social democrats, who were until the forming of a state-wide Socialist party of Yugoslavia (SSJ) in 1921, already organised in their own previously existing Yugoslav Social-Democratic Party (JSDS), they demanded the disposition of church large estates and declared a culture war on the catholic side in 1921. In this war, they used relentless warning of the grim, inquisitive and progress hating Church its role in history and its support for the capitalist social order in the modern times. In this sense, they rejected social and economic actions of Christian socials, as they in their opinion did not stand for the emancipation of the working class. Social-democratic or socialist culture struggle also contained the stance that religion is a personal matter, which resulted in the tendency to shut the Church out of public life. In 1921 JSDS supported the so called "Kanzelparagraf" motion in the constituency of the Kingdome of SHS, which prohibited religious representatives of using their position towards political ends. Besides the many questions that concerned the worker's movement, the main socialist guideline was the struggle against political Catholicism. This guideline was also followed by many socialist groups that emerged because of internal disagreements in Slovenian state SSJ organisation. Social democrats and socialist with their firm anti-Catholic alignment, that was in many ways like the political idea of old Austrian liberalism, what was constantly attacked by the catholic side and deepened the ideological division in the Slovenian nation in the years 1918-1929 which led to the continual division in the Slovenian political development.
