Pension insurance is one of the basic social subsystems that provide adequate income to all individuals who, due to age or inability to perform work on the labour market, can no longer perform gainful activities, and thus ensure for themselves adequate social and economic security. An efficient pension insurance system in its function thus represents a fundamental precondition for ensuring social peace in society, as well as a condition for intergenerational coexistence of all generations. Each socioeconomic and demographic situation dictates the constant adaptation of the system to the changed situation, which requires both social and intergenerational dialogue in society. The basic precondition for an effective intergenerational dialogue, which ultimately leads to the conclusion of an intergenerational agreement, is a fair, transparent and financially balanced pension system, which treats each generation equally from the point of view of rights, without shifting the excessive financial burden of financing the pension fund.
