GREGORY THE GREAT SLOVENIAN PARISH 41/62 PRILIKA O POVABLJENIH NA SVATBO Številka - Number / Leto - Year 11. 10. 2026 Pred nami je prilika, ki je zelo podobna priliki o vinogradu in viničarjih: prilika o povabljenih na svatbo. Tudi tema, ki jo obravnava, je ista, vendar nanjo gleda z drugačnim odtenkom. V priliki o hudobnih viničarjih je 28. NEDELJA MED prišel na svetlo greh izraelskega ljudstva, ko je zavrnilo klic, ki mu ga je Bog v teku zgodovine večkrat namenil, nazadnje po svojem Sinu Jezusu. LETOM Povabljenci na svatbo, o katerih smo poslušali, so bili zelo verjetno kraljevi dostojanstveniki, ljudje, ki jih je on postavil v ta privilegirani 28TH SUNDAY IN položaj. Kralj je verjel, da so mu zelo blizu, in jih je želel pripeljati do še ORDINARY TIME tesnejšega zaupanja in prijateljstva z njim. Oni pa ošabno zavračajo povabilo - ta iz enega razloga, oni iz drugega. Pridejo celo tako daleč, da ubijejo zadnje odposlance, ki jih pošlje kralj. Njihov greh je še težji kot THANKSGIVING tisti, ki so ga zagrešili ubijalski viničarji, ker je prevzetna zavrnitev in SUNDAY žalitev kraljevega povabila. Poskusimo razumeti nauk, ki nam ga želi dati Cerkev s to priliko. Zdi se, da nas hoče opozoriti na nevarnost, da bi tudi mi padli v greh neum- nosti in domišljavosti, ki izstopa iz evangeljske pripovedi. Kot ljudstvo FR. On this day, Catholics throughout the world come together in unity to pray for the Church's missionary work. During Mass, there is a special second collection, with proceeds going to the Pontifical Mission Societies, directly sustaining over 1,000 mission territories in areas where the Church faces its greatest challenges. The Church is missionary by her very nature, and every baptized person has a part to play in this mission through prayer, witness, service and generosity. For this significant anniversary, Pope Leo XIV has chosen the theme "One in Christ, united in mis- sion." In his message for World Mission Sunday, the Holy Father offers the Church a beautiful reflection on what it means to be united in Christ and to share together in the proclamation of the Gospel. Over the years, I have witnessed firsthand the generosity and missionary spirit of our Catholic faithful - through their prayers, their financial support, and their willingness to become personally involved in the mission of the Church. I am deeply grateful for this spirit of generosity, which continues to make a real difference in the lives of people and communities around the world. Joseph Dabrowski, C.S.M.A., Bishop of Hamilton Dvakrat na leto se predstavniki klubov Niagarske koordinacije zberejo na srečanju. Jesensko srečanje je bilo v sredo, 7. oktobra pri sv. Gregoriju. Najprej smo potrdili dnevni red. Na srečanju smo si izmenjali kaj je vsak od navzočil lepega doživel v poletnem času. Vmes smo tudi nekaj prigriznili. Pre- gledali smo datume prireditev, ki jih posamezni klub načrtuje za prihodnje leto. Vsak klub je na kratko predstavil lanskoletne dogodke, še posebej smo se zaustavili ob praznovanju Slovenske- ga dneva, katerega gostitelj je bil Sloven- ski park. Vodenje teh srečanj je sedaj prevzel Slovenski park. Spomladansko srečanje bo v sredo, 7. aprila 2027. PRENOVA PARKIRIŠČA V četrtek, 8. oktobra, so mojstri položili drugo plast asfalta v prvem delu parkirišča, od Delawane pa do vhoda v dvorano. V petek so prišli mojstri, ki so v tem delu pobarvali črte, da se bo vedelo kje parkirat. Obenem so že začeli že z odstranjevan- jem starega asfalta v delu parkitišča ob in za dvo- rano. To je kar zajeten projekt, saj je bilo potrebno urediti dobro podlago, da bo asfalt zdržal dlje časa. Narejeni so novi nakloni, da voda lepše oddteka, odstranili so vse “stopnice”, tako, da se pride v cerkev po ravnem, brez preprek. To bo dobrodošlo posebej za starejše. Tudi vreme je naklonjeno. MAŠA ZA BOLNIKE IN STAREJŠE V sredo po zahvalnem vikendu, 14. oktobra, ob 11:00 AM bo sveta maša in med mašo priložnost za prejem zakramenta bolniškega maziljenja. Vsi starejši in bolehni lahko enkrat na leto pre- jmete ta zakrament. Bolniško maziljenje ni samo za ob koncu življenja, kot je bilo to včasih.
