Kolikokrat odpustiti?
Ko je Jezus rekel, da je vsakdo dolžan človeka, ki je grešil, posvariti in mu potem greh odpustiti, ga je Peter vprašal, kolikokrat je dolžan to storiti. Do sedemkrat? S to visoko številko je hotel pokazati svojo velikodušnost, saj so judovski rabini učili, da Bog grešniku odpusti trikrat, četrtič ne več.
Jezus mu je odgovoril, da je mejo odpuščanja postavil prenizko. Odpustiti je treba sedemdesetkrat sedemkrat, to je vedno. Seveda le, če se grešnik spreobrne in se greha skesa. Potem je Jezus pojasnil svojo zahtevo s priliko o nehvaležnem kraljevem uslužbencu. Človek, ki je bil kralju dolžan deset tisoč talentov, je moral biti nekdo iz višjih krogov kraljevih uslužbencev. Višino dolga je Jezus po običaju vzhodnjaških učiteljev zavestno pretiral, ker je hotel poudariti misel prilike. Ker dolžnik denarja ni mogel vrniti, ga je sklenil kralj prodati za sužnja, obenem z njim pa tudi njegovo družino in imetje. Po tedanjem rimsko-grškem pravu je to smel storiti. Tako je dobil povrnjen vsaj del dolga. Po Mojzesovi postavi je bilo dovoljeno prodati samo moža. Uslužbenec je padel pred kralja na kolena in ga prosil, naj mu podaljša rok plačila. In res mu kralj ni samo podaljšal časa plačila, ampak mu je celo ves dolg izbrisal.
Misel tega prvega dela prilike je jasna. Upnik je Bog, dolžnik je človek. Ker se žalitev meri po osebi žaljenega, v tem primeru je ta neskončna, doseže žalitev neobičajno velike mere. Vendar je Bog pripravljen odpustiti vsak greh, če človek pokaže vsaj malo dobre volje, kot je to storil »minister«, ki je prosil za odlog plačila in obljubil dolg poplačati.
Potem sledi drugi del zgodbe. Visoki uradnik zunaj naleti na enega svojih kolegov, ki mu je bil dolžan sto denarjev. Surovo ga zgrabi za vrat in ga začene daviti, naj mu vrne dolžni denar. Upnik ga na kolenih prosi za odlog plačila kot prej on kralja, a ga ni ta niti poslušal. Vrže ga v ječo, dokler mu ne bo vrnil denarja. Misel drugega dela prilike je jasna. Neusmiljeni uradnik je podoba človeka, ki ne pozna usmiljenja do dolžnikov, pa čeprav je njemu Bog odpustil neskončno več. Bog bo ravnal z nami, kakor mi ravnamo z našimi dolžniki.

Kitchen Secrets Cooking Session
Many of you may have already heard that there is a movie being made celebrating Canadian Slovenians across our great country. I have been asked if they could join us to film one or two of our cooking sessions. Of course, the recipe of choice for filming is our infamous "Potica".
So, for anyone interested in not only making potica, but participating in this film, please contact me directly.
The date of this cooking session will be Saturday, October 14th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. sharp.
Unfortunately, I will only have 12 spots available so participants will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Please contact me if you are interested in participating.
This film crew is considering coming out to a second session tentatively set for Saturday November 25th, once that is confirmed I will let you all know.

Summer Camp BBQ for everyone!
As you've all heard, our Slovenian Summer Day Camp was a great success! Unfortunately, our annual parent vs camper soccer game and end of camp BBQ was rained out.
For this reason, we have decided to reschedule this BBQ event and invite parishioners to join us for our BBQ gathering on Sunday, September 17th, immediately after 11:00 a.m. Mass.
We would also like to invite all our campers and their families to come and participate at 11:00 a.m. Mass, where we hope our campers will come together and share a few songs they learned and practised with the help of Milan Vincec from Toronto.
Slovenija is in the Eurobasket Championship Game
Slovenija has played amazingly to get to the Eurobasket Championship round tomorrow against Serbia. We will be live streaming this game for anyone interested in watching as a group and cheering on our Slovenian Team.
The game starts at 2:30pm, so for anyone interested, we will be meeting in the youth room to watch as a group.

Obveščamo vas, da bodo dne 22. oktobra 2017 potekale predsedniške volitve in vas hkrati prosimo, da slovenski skupnosti posredujete naslednje sporočilo:
Državna volilna komisija je na portalu e-uprava vzpostavila nov informacijski sistem »E-obvestila volivcev« (v nadaljevanju: e-obvestila) z namenom poenostavitve in racionalizacije postopkov posredovanja obvestil volivcev.
Za izvedbo volitev predsednika republike, ki bodo 22. 10. 2017, lahko preko sistema e-obvestila oddajo obvestila naslednji volivci:
1.	Volivci s stalnim prebivališčem v RS, ki bodo na dan glasovanja v tujini, lahko preko sistema e-obvestila sporočijo, da bi želeli glasovati po pošti iz tujine (če imajo v tujini zaeasni naslov) ali da želijo glasovati na diplomatsko konzularnem predstavništvu z odprtim voliščem.
2.	volivci, ki imajo stalni naslov v tujini in bodo na dan glasovanja v RS, lahko preko sistema e-obvestila, sporočijo, da želijo glasovati izven okraja stalnega prebivanja oziroma na t.i. volišču OMNIA v RS .
Informacijski sistem e-obvestila je vključen v obstojeee ogrodje portala e-uprava in omogoča elektronski zajem vlog ter elektronsko obdelavo prejetih vlog. Sistem omogoča oddajanje vlog oziroma obvestil na dva načina in sicer:
a.	elektronsko z digitalnim kvalificiranim potrdilom;
b.	elektronsko brez digitalnega potrdila
Na sistemu e-obvestila je vzpostavljen spletni pripomoček oziroma program. Program z vprašanji avtomatsko vodi volivca čez postopke, ki
ustrezajo njegovim potrebam in okoliščinam ter mu pregledno prikaže seznam dejavnosti, ki jih mora volivec izvesti v posameznem primeru.

BLED Planica - Labour Day Picnic_
V ponedeljek popoldne, 4. septembra 2017, je bilo zelo veselo in živahno pri društvu Bled. Lepo vreme - čeprav malo oblačno, je privabilo več kot 170 gostov. Ob dveh popoldne je začel igrati tudi ansambel iz Slovenije, NOVI SPOMINI. Ansambel je letos gostoval po Kanadi in Ameriki in njihov zadnji nastop, pred povratkom v domovino, je bil prav na Bledu. Štirje muzikantje so dobro in živahno zaigrali, zapeli in zvabili marsikoga na plesišče. V kuhinji in pri baru so poskrbeli za hrano in pijačo. Na balinišču pa je potekalo tekmovanje, kdo je boljši. Kar nekaj zagretih igralcev se je zbralo. Otroci pa so se zabavali na gugalnicah in igralih, plezali in skakali. Za vsakega je bilo nekaj. Če ne drugega, so si pri mizah imeli veliko za povedat, saj se mnogi »že dolgo niso srečali« in so

3rd convention for Slovenians in Canada
V soboto, 9. septembra 2017, je Vera Margutsch, kot predsednica VSKO organizirala tretjo konvencijo na kateri so za Slovenijo izbrali predstavnika Slovencev v Kanadi. Vse se je odvijalo v dvorani sv. Gregorija Velikega v Hamiltonu. Prisotni so se hitro zedinili in mandat podaljšali dosedanjemu predstavniku, g. Marjanu Kolariču. Ob koncu pa sta Sonya Obljubek in Sarah Larsen predstavili kratek primer, kako bo zgledal dokumentarni film o Slovencih v Kanadi.

Društvo Triglav-London
V nedeljo, 10. septembra, smo se v Londonu, v dvorani društva Triglav, zbrali k sveti maši. Ker so imeli prejšnji dan tekmovanje v golfu pri Bear Creek, Strathroy, je ostalo še nekaj dobrot tudi za nedeljo. Po maši pa smo se spomnili še treh članic, ki so tiste dni praznovale svoje rojstne dneve. Čestitali smo jim in jim zapeli, da bi še v bodoče ostale zdrave in razpoložene kot ta dan.

Jesus uses the parable of the unmerciful servant to urge forgiveness and mercy.
"Wereyou not bound, then, to have pity on your fellow servant just as I had pity on you?"

Mahatma Gandhi once said, "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind." Yet how hard it is not to seek revenge, and instead to choose to forgive, when a person has wounded you deeply. Among extraordinary stories of forgiveness, Margaret and Barry Mizen's ability to forgive the young man who killed their son stands out. Jimmy Mizen was killed the day after he turned sixteen in May 2008. He and his older brother Harry were waiting in a local bakery in South London when Jimmy stood up to another customer who barged past them. The nineteen-year-old was angry and threw a glass dish, which cut into Jimmy's neck, fatally wounding him.

Margaret Mizen says of that day: "The house was full of people and the table stacked with food people brought over. There was this immense outpouring of grief but with it came a huge outpouring of love too. As terrible as this tragedy was, we felt blessed to have so much love in our lives. Love and prayer is what kept us going. For me forgiveness is about not wanting revenge and not being angry. I'm not shouting from the rooftop 'I forgive' but by not wanting revenge I have an inner peace that a lot of people in our position don't seem to have. Jimmy's murder has done a lot of damage to this family and I can't let it do any more."
Her husband Barry explained further: "For me, forgiveness means I don't want to do to Jimmy's killer what he did to Jimmy. And I thank God for that. I don't want retribution. I don't want revenge. In the end, if I want to live in a more peaceful, compassionate society then I have to be more peaceful and compassionate."
Gospel Teaching
In today's Gospel Peter asks Jesus about forgiveness. Jewish tradition limited forgiveness to three times, so Peter thought his willingness to forgive seven times would be regarded as generous. Peter's question indicated that he still wanted to count how many times he should forgive. Jesus is, in effect, telling him not to count. Jesus stresses the importance of forgiveness, that a person cannot expect mercy from God if there has not been the same generosity of spirit demonstrated towards others. He uses the parable of the unmerciful servant to urge forgiveness and mercy. As we say so often in the Lord's Prayer, "forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us".
Jesus talks about forgiving seventy-seven times, but it is not the mathematics that matters. What Jesus describes is vast and cosmic, a forgiveness per-
meating all creation, making all things new. Refusal to forgive will make it impossible for us to understand and experience the generous forgiveness of God for us.
Application
The Roman philosopher Seneca wrote: "The sins of others are before our eyes, our own are behind our backs." We all know we should forgive, but that doesn't mean it's easy to do so, especially when a person has wronged us in a terrible way. Withholding forgiveness can cause a toxic cloud to hang over our lives and prevent us from truly finding joy. Refusal to forgive can consume the heart and drain the energy. Forgiveness does not tolerate revenge. Learning to let go and forgive will heal our souls and help us to find happiness in this life. Experiencing God's generous mercy transforms who we are and the way we see our lives. We can recognise the blessings given to us. We cannot heal ourselves by clinging to our wounds. And neither can we contribute to the repairing of the world without practising forgiveness.
The practice of forgiveness can both soften our own hearts and transform the world community. We often hear about peace processes in various countries. In every case, each party must listen sympathetically to the stories of the other, overcome misunderstandings and exaggerations, recognise its own misdeeds and begin to forge common links. The spirit of forgiveness is essential for the preservation of human community, whether in the home, the neighbourhood, the nation or the world. The strongest motive is the realisation of our own great need of forgiveness and of the extremes to which God has gone in order to bring us the healing we need. C.S Lewis said: "To be Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you."
