Kakršen urednik, take so smernice! . . F. Flfoli CLEVELAND, O.—In the absence of Recording Secretary Frances Prešeren, who is still vacationing in Yukon, Pa., writer read the minutes of the previous meeting, which were approved. It was necessary for Pauline Spik to take over the chair on account of President Tony Kerze being absent. We wonder if he forgot about the meeting. A call to his hotlse produced no response. The communication from the American Association for Reconstruction in Jugoslavia was read and discussed. It was finally decided that more information be secured from the local SANC group on this subject. Among those present at the meeting were some strange faces, Frank, Chuck ar\d wife Margaret Tushar, also Frank Ross (wrong guess, Frank). Mrs. R Debevc saw to it that the Debevc family was represented. Report on the Library was given by Joe Sircel who again requested that some of the younger folks take a more active interest. Proceedings of the last Cleveland Federation meeting were mentioned by Marie Stefanic. Sick reports for Anton Modic, Vic Vehar and Matilda Jo-niec were passed for paymem. Pauline Spik reported on the very succeslful wleper roast held,at the Hoyt's residency. The, hospitality of Roy and Lea helped much to make this affair very enjoyable; they have a lovely place. Writer had a difficult time In chasing the gang home the early hour of the morning. We took it upon ourselves to tell Roy and Lea that we intend to bring the gang baCk there some Sunday. Pauline also brought out the fact that attention/was called by the Farm Board that Comrades' representative Gus Valentine is performing in excellept fashion. "A few more Gus Vaiehtlnes snd the Farm Board would really go to town," wss the expression used by one of the board executives. Was good to hear those words and we trust Gus will continue his fine Job. We know that many members are not taking advantage of their liquor ration cards, you should not pass up any period! The Farm Board as well as the lodge can always use your share. If you require mbney in advance contact Mrs. Subel or the writer. An affair to be held for the ex-G. I.s by various local lodges was brought up and discussed. All agreed this was a good idea, however the majority felt that a Sunday night or s week-day night would be more sppropriste aince the affair will be limited to ex-G. I.s and their friends. It was decided that the writer contact Mr. Medvesek and secure more details for a report at our next meeting. Mention waa made of our picnic to be held July 26 at the SNPJ Farm. Peach short cake with whipped cream (baked by Mary Andres), cookies and coffee were served to everyone's, delight. Attendance award winners were Sergeant-at-Arms Frank Wid-mar and for juveniles, Jo Anne Marie Rak. • PERFECT CIRCLE—A short meeting was held by Perfect Cir-clers last Saturday morning. It was decided to have a picnic by end of the month. June 30 is the date. Place is at Brookfield Zoo or in Forest Preserve across road from the Zoo. Decision is that all Circle members, their parents and friends meet at SNPJ no later than 10:30 am Sunday, June 30, and go to Zoo in a body. Of course some of us will meet the group at end of Cermak streetcar line at proper time. Either way is correct. See ya all Sunday! Circle Notes—Myra Beniger and Sylvia Trojar received their Latin achievement awards -last week at a tea in their honor. Congratulations, girls! Robann Sannemann again received the poetry award at Burns School. She got a book as a prize, and she also received a "school citation" from U. S. Treasury for bond work from 1941 to 1046. CLEVELAND.—It will be a grand day and everyone will have a good time at the forthcoming Loyalites Field Day on July 4. So don't fail to make plans to pack your baskets and bring the whole family and really make a day of it at the SNPJ Farm, located on Heath Road off of Chardon Road. The social committee has really gene out in full force to make sure that there would be enough refreshments of all kinds to satisfy all. Of course there will be music, furnished by none other than Lenny Paul and his orchestra, and believe me he will really send you with those Slovene and modern rhythms of his. Most important of all. make sure you pick your balinca teams as there will be contests for champions. In the event that enough out-of-towners from Detroit, Barberton, and some of the Penna folks should come in, we may manage to have one of those tug-of-war contests across the creek which I know some of you have heard about. We expect a grand turnout so don't fall to remember the Loyalites Field Day on the Fourth of July. The Loyalites were always an enthusiastic group of people in sports and social events, and it seems that enthusiasm runs high in attending meetings lately. We hope this will continue, as this SNPJ spirit wiU seal a greater friendship among members and will encourage more members to become active. At our last meetine we had mlany of our old members and I'm sure that they will remember that toe second Monday of each month is meeting day for the Loyalites. at the Slovene Hall on Holies Avenue at 8 p. m. After the meeting the fellows made sure that we had refreshments and the girls managed to make sandwiches. Lenny Paul brought his accordion and played many numbers for the folks who danced and tor the people who sang those good old Slovene songs- It seems that the boys have gone into composing new words to different music, and believe me some of the Loyalites have written a group of fine verses to the Clairene Walts, which is one of Frank Yankovich's latest recordings. Our financial secretary stresses the importance of paying your dues, so that all members would be in good standing at all times. Three new members are given a big welcome to the LoyaUtes Lodge 500 for the month of June Catherine Pavlovic, Prances Miller, and Lenny Sterle. Incidentally. Lenny Sterle has just received his membership card and medal to the Caterpillar Club. HeWi to boil out of two planes during the war to save his life, one which was on fire and the other which exploded in midair. We certainly arf heppy to have these new members with-us. Also mi the lucky list of people is Marty Paul who won s radio in the Young Americans SNPJ Lod«* drawing. Well I guess the Loyal -lias aren't doing so bed. as yours trully won s lamp. A. E RAINES. PIONEER PRIZE PICNIC—Another good month and we'll be off to the picnic of the year—Pioneers' Annual Picnic. It's to be a homecoming for our ex-G. I.s with a special souvenir booklet with all these boys' and girls' pictures in them. Perhaps the biggest attraction will be giving away of the 1948 Ford car to some lucky person. Who knows it might be you! Then it's been finally settled that the Columbia Recording Orchestra of Frankie Yankovich of Cleveland will furnish dance music. To the first three hundred children under 16 entering the grove there will be a very special gift. Then there are those persons who will come to grove to have their supper. Mary Andres and crew promise a delicious supper at a nominal fee. There will be plenty to eat and plenty to dring, too. Just remem ber the date, Aug. 3rd, at Pilsen Park, 26th and Albany. Gates open at 4 p. m. Chicago's SNPJ is cordially invited to attend. ALLAROUND—A group of former Sava Singing Society members went to the wake of Jacob Muha, their beloved instructor, last Tuesday evening. As you know, his death was quite sudden and the former Savans went to sing him a farewell song, one that he taught them, and did quite well for themselves, too. Many Savans attended the funeral the following day. Mary Udovich was elected delegate to SNPJ convention representing Nada Lodge, with Minka Alesh as alternate. Mary Udovich got nearly 500 new members into SNPJ in previous three campaigns.—Ernest Dreshar spent last weekend with Edith Tancek family in Ohio.—Vera Levee and Minka Alesh left Chicago last Saturday for a month's stay in Fontana, Calif., visiting with Skaviches and Rodmans.—John Do brovolec of Waukegan, father of our active. Mary Andres, spent a few days of his vacation with her family.—Congratulations to the Ko bilcas on the arrival of their second son.—And so until again. Penna SNPJ Day At South Park LIBRARY, PA.—This is your last reminder to make plans to attend then 12th SNPJ Day celebration this Sunday, June 30, at the South Park Lodge. This year, the committee has done everything possible to improve the service at the refreshment stands and provided a platform for the entertainers so that everyone will be able to see and hear comfortably. With Mr. Sunshine's assistance the game between the Strabane Pioneers and the Ambridge Rebeliers should be most exciting along with the contest games for the juveniles and the adults. For the program we were most fortunate to obtain Louis and Dolores Ivancich from Milwaukee. From all reports they are out of this world when it comes to entertaining. There will be other entertainment along with dancing from 2 to 5 and from 8-11 p. m. to Frank Porovne's orchestra. The guest speaker will be Brother Frsnk Zaitz of Chicago, chairman of the Supreme Supervisory Committee. The most important part of the program is you. Without you U will not be a success. It take« you. you and you to really launch sn affair such as this. So remember, with your cooperation the committee's efforts will not have been in vain. South Park Lodge Is not really very difficult to find once you get in South Park. FRANCES DERMOTTA. St2 Juvenile Circles of the SNPJ Waukegan Circle 24 Had Wiener Roesi on June 22 WAUKEGAN, ILL.—Last Saturday the teen-agers had a wiener roast at Foss Park. Some of the boys had gone down earlier, and the rest of us met at the Slovene hall from where we set out shortly after 7:30 p. m.; sume of us walked, others rode down on their bicycles. Marge Kenik had a basket on her bike, so we piled all our supplies onto her bike which was a relief, indeed. When we arrived at the park, the boys who had gone down earlier had just come out of the water and decided that that was no place for them for the water was very cold, Almost at once everyone began helping by gathering twigs und branches for the fire, and the girls spread the food out on the table. As soon as we got the fire pretty well started we began to roast the wieners. After the long walk most of us had worked up a good apetita and the wieners tasted just "super". A few of my girl friends brought a portable phonograph and records for dancing. There being practically no traffic through the park that evening, we danced on the paved road which leads down to the beach, so that we had Bomewhat ot a "street dance". By the time we got everything cleaned up and packed away it was 10 p. m., so we started back, although many of them wanted to stay longer. Even though everyone was complaining about sore feet and legs, we all fait that it was worth it. JOSEPHINE BEZEK, Mgr. Perfect Circle to Hold Picnic Sunday. June 30 CHICAGO.—Perfect Circle members. parents and friends will have a picnic this Sunday. June 30. We will spend part of the time at Brookfield Zoo, and the rest at the McCormick Tract, just opposite of the zoo. The group plans to meet in front of the SNPJ Hall at 10:30, and each member Is responsible for his own lunch and car fiire. A program of games and pUtalt* activity is being planned, and we're playing ball too! It la our intention to be home by early evening before dark, and should the day be threatening rain, or raining, the picnic will be can celed for the time being. Wear your old clothes, be on time, and do come out for a day of fun and relaxation. ANN SANNEMANN, Mgr. Perfect Circle No. 26* SNPJ. Activities of Shsron Juvenile Circle No. 21 SHARON, PA.—Every year since Circle 21 has been organised we have held a program for Mother's Day, but never presented anything for our fathers. So we decided that in 1946 we would present dads with a program and later serve them a lunch. The program opened snd closed with the song "Kje je moj mili dom." Edward Kramer recited nicely a poem for all the fsthers present, Helen Okorn and Frances Bahoi sang "Dekle na vrtu zelenem sedi," followed by the girls' quarted composed of Helen and Patsy Okorn, Frances Luin and Fran Bahor singing "Soča vuds j* iumela." Frances Novak and Millie Novak, manuger and assistant manager, respectively, sang a duet which went over swell. Vickie Paulenich, our little dancer whom we are all proud of, danced a number called "The Street" to the tune of "Nagasaki." The chorus sang s few selections, "Herkolov valček," "Moj očka so mi rekli" snd "Kdo so ti fantje." • After this Fran Novak had all of our fathers come on the stage snd they made a swell chorus as they sang their favorite songs and we surely enjoyed listening to their singing. After all the entertainment we served sandwiches, cookies, gin-gersie. etc. In the evening we had a dance for the benefit of our boys' mushball uniforms and equipment. All the boys are looking forward to the game they'll play when we go to Presto on July 4. They are getting along splendidly in their games with other teams in this vicinity, and they I are going to join the Buhl League. We'll all root for them and we hop* I they have all the luck in the world | At our monthly meeting we discussed.. our furthcoming trip to Presto and the matter of chattering s bus to go there. The local Slovenians are as busy as a bee in order to have their New Home all cleaned up and ready by next month, if everything goes right for the opening. A big celebration is in store for the guy opening, so watch for the big announcement. When the date is announced, the local committee would uppreciate it very much if the nearby lodges would keep the date with us. Reading Bro. Michael Vrhovnik's article in a recent Prosveta about Juvenile Circles, I. think all lodges that don't as yet have a Circle should take this article very seriously. So what do you say, Reveliers, let's get the ball rolling in thut direction! We extend our heartfelt sympathy to AlVin Frank and Mrs. Ann Couch in the recent death of their mother, Mrs. Barbara Jakse. The Revellers softbsll team has gotten off on the right foot when the ball season was opened by winning the first four games in the local city league, but has dropped the next twu by close scoros to remain in second position in stsnding in Ambridge. In the federation tilts the Reveliers have beaten the Southvisw lodge and Avulla tu remain undefeated in that league. I had the pleasure of meeting fur the first time Lawrence Martin, secretary of that lodge, plus the ballplayers and female rooters, namely Mrs. Rose Slugu, Dorothy Sluga, Mrs, Murgu ret Martin, Mrs. Marie Rupur, Mrs. Mary Wolf, Mrs. Jennie Pstnesksy and Helen Ribarich, secretary of the Avella lodge. Alleged Intimidation Much is made by the various Op position groups belonging to all three categories, of the issue of m timid« tlon and "terror." There seems no reasonable doubt that when the country was liberated there was a wave of violence and vengeance throughout the country and the paying off of long scores and bitter grudges. But this period appears to have passed and the whole process of purging the country and cleansing public life of those who were actively on the side of the enemy has now been brought under control and Is taking place in legal and orderly forms. Yet there is undoubtedly an atmosphere of fear among the minorities and Opposition groups described above. These fears they would substantiate by reports of arbitrary interference with political freedom, liberty of the person, of the Press, of speech and of public meeting as understood in Western parliamentary democracy. It was difficult in the time available, in spite of repeated efforts, to obtain concrete instancei to Justify the feeling of apprehension of those opposed to the regime. All that we could be sure of was that there was a certain uneasiness, and that even where guarantees for free speech and liberty of the per ton exist on paper, Jugoslav opinion to day has other standards of fair play and tolerance than those customary in this country. For instance, Doctor Grol's Opposition paper Demo-kratija was confiscated the week before the election. Its criticisms of the regime, although violent, would harcjly have caused raised eyebrows in this country. Marshal Tito explained that the Government took the view, however, that in existing circumstances the articles objected to constituted an attempt to undermine the morale of the Army, and implied that it waa intended to provoke foreign interference in Jugoslavia's internal affairs. Whereas the General Election showed that Jugoslavia had democracy, the impounding of this Issue of the psper showed that Jugoslavia's democracy was capable of dealing with its enemies constitutionally. He added that this confiscation applied only to the present issue snd there was no legal obstacle to the publication of further issues. The Jugoslav legal provisions forbidding "preventative censorship" and allowing appeal to the Cou.'t against a Government decision to confiscate an issue of a newspaper containing an offending article after it has been published, are roughly equivalent to the powers of our own Government in relation to the- press during the wsr. The National Front consider that their present national emergency is as scute as that with which the Hritiah were faced In war time, It should not be forgotten in this connection that there are still armed remnants of Ustashi and Chrtnlks at large and that the Government has by no means finished the business of rounding up those who worked with the invader and who must be considered as irreconcilable enemies of the new Jugoslavia. There is also considerable fear that the Opposition may in one way or another provoke or attract foreign intervention on their behalf— a fear which Anglo-American policy hitherto has done little to dispel. • Some Urgent Problems (a) t'NHHA Is doing a magnificent Job in Juguslsvia snd deserves every help and support. The leading UNltRA officials we coniultid. Soviet, American and British alike, were emphatic the point that UNKItA supplies were not being »asted or misdirected by the Jugo-slsv authorities, but on the contrary were fairly disti ibuted and put to the t* st p< »m title use They were satisfied thst their system of check ing distiilmtion by lo;al observers - on the spot snd by "check-ups"' at irregular and unheralded intervals, of the relation between totals of supplies distributed in different parts of the country snd the grsnd totsl received by t'NHHA from abtoad fot the same pt^iod. was capable of detecting any dlscrepancier. or irregularities snd afforded positive pi oof thst no such irregulsrities hsd occurred They complained strongly of the rumors and stories to thr contrary in circulation, which they declated lo tie wholly un founded (bl The slow, etusll and uncertain deliveries of I* O 1. (d) There is serious danger of many deaths from exposure in some of the mountain villages, through sheer lack of clothing and boots. The winter is short but severe and the rags in which some of the peas-ants were clothed have to be seen to be believed. We even found miners working at the coal face in bare feet or carpet slippers. Greece has been given some clothes through UNRRA and we believe that Jugoslavia should also be helped possibly from surplus Army stocks. There must be large number of battledresses, greatcoats, Army boots, etc., turned in by demobilized soldiers or In stock and no longer wanted. (e) There Is bitter feeling about the refusal by the Americans to release some 170 Jugoslav barges and tugs held in upper Austria, in the Linse, a tributary of the Danube. They are desperately needed now for bringing coal to Jugoslavia to keep industries going this winter, for they will be useless after the freezing of the Danube in two months. We heard something of the other side of this question which seems to be involved with American-Soviet relations on the borders of their respective area« of occupation in Aus-ria and Germanv. But the economic cr.d human case put to us both in Jugoslav quarters and from UNRRA officials seemed so strong as to be ntillcd to priority over political ;onsidc rations. (f) There is also strong feeling at the long-standing failure of the British Admiralty to reach agreement with Jugoslavia on the clearing of the mines blocking the harbors of Flume and Sushak. UNRRA offi-cials state that this is aggravating their problems of helping some parts of the country most readily accessible through these ports. I. Trieste There is a strong desire for the immediate settlement of the Trieste problem. The Jugoslavs want the town to be under their sovereignty, but are prepared to give any guarantees reasonably required, including international control in the port and the status of an autonomous federated minority to the Italians in the town. They are deeply wounded at being put on the same footing as the ex-enemy Iuly, who has unconditionally surrendered, and suspect that the Trieste problem has not been handled by the Western powers on its intrinsic merits, but as part of a policy of combating and restricting Soviet influence in Eastern Europe. One point that struck us about the situation in Trieste was that u strong section, some think a major ity, of the Italian population desire to come under Jugoslav sovereignty on the terms offered by Marshal rito. According to statements of deputations from Italian workers, which we checked in long conversations with leading AMG officials, the situation appears to be as follows: (Continued next week) Avella News AVELLA NEWS.—Our polka dance held bv the softball team was a huge success, for our guests and financially for our team. At last Friday's meeting the Pioneers accepted throe new juveniles to give us a total of 3« for the first six months of 104«. This is an average of better than six per month and that is quite something. At a fairly well attended meeting we also went into the various routine matters. We made several donations and gave a lot of tinre to athletics for the Pioneers and, of course, our Homecoming on August 3rd. Frank Vidmar and Jo Anne Rak won the meeting attendance awards. The committee served refreshments. • • • Twenty members responded with subscription sales during the past week. That's the best week we've had in sub sales. Since the time is drawing closer, we will need many more such goed weeks ,to put us properly over the top. Now is the time to do your plugging, Pioneers, so that we can rejoice later. Those responding were Frank Kodrlch, Mary Slobodnik, John Simon, Thomas Selak, Frances Kristan, Lena Podbelsek, Vers Levee. Hope Tolar, George Ratkovich, Rose Looney. Steve Cerkoney, Joe Cerkoney, Tom Zordani, Frank Hrovat, John Skoff, Frank Lotrich, Mary Vertnik, Frank Jirmasek, Joseph Supencic and Frank Sotosek. It was number twenty-three for "Lefty," number thirteen for Joe Cerkoney and number eight for John Simon. We are already set to give the first three hundred children entering the grove a special gift. Right now we are working on supplies for the dinner which we will serve snd we are extremely happy to have good connections which will enable us to procure the supplies to prepare the dinner. Incidentally, we consider the dinner a part of our picnic program. Many of our folks take advantage' of it because it is moderately priced and because above everything else, it is prepared in home style and the food is always tasty. With Mary Andres at the helm in the kitchen, we're positive to have a good, deli-« clous meal available. Make it a point to be there early snd get one of these fine meals. • • • Our program book is shaping up nicely but we still require the pictures of many of our servicemen and ex-GIs. Surprisingly enough, some of the veterans do not have any pictures of themselves taken in uniform. Others are reluctant to having it published because they are through with the service and want to forget about it, but we believe that for historical purposes, at least sofsr ss the Pioneer lodge is concerned, a book such as this is not amiss and will do a lot of good. So, please those of you who have not sent in pictures, get them to us within the next week. Cuts must be made, and that takes time. • • * John Vertnik snd Ida Simon have been added to the Sick Visiting Committee for the next three month period. You have also heard the rumor about what happened in a small Virginia town when a false report was issued that the OPA was discarded. The price of butter went to a dollar and fifty cents a pound. It's coming, people, whether you like it or not, and it's coming because you have been too carefree. We let the politicians in Washington do as they please. They fail to use common horse sense and facts and figures in making their decisions. Else, how could we be in so much trouble all the time? It's time you, as citizens, start thinking right. We don't want' boom and busts. We want an economy that will give an abundance for everyone through a cooperative system and, using the brains and brawn of America, such a thing is possible. But not with a private enterprise system which is so greedy that it fails to consider facts and figures. You need a new economy, a cooperative economy. DONALD J. LOTRICH, 559. Veronian News VERONA, PA.—Another softball federation league game was played June 10, and we were again victorious over Sygan, who traveled to play here on our field. Everyone was in suspense for both teams were sd Close to scoring, and this went on until the 10th inning When Willie Kaus and George Li-pesky got ori base and Tony Trater hit a twobegger, thus bringing in the winning - run and2 ending the game 8-7. The winning pitcher was "Druggie" Mehelic, who during the course of the game also hit a home run. After the game the players Withered at the Club and were served sandwiches, ctc. The Slovan« American National Coesictl (RANČI Is conducting a cam. pelt« rak«« 81 MM for a Chit-dree s Hospital hi Slovenia. which jU a w«ethy ef »very All too frequently we hear remarks passed around that sports activities are for the young people and not for the old. Yet, if one is asked how old a member must be to be too old for sports participation, the answer in nearly every case would depend on the individual member, for there ia really no dividing line on the basis of age in many types of sports. The fact is that sports, along with various recreational activities, can be conducted in a manner beneficial to all groups in the SNPJ. There is no reason why they should be confined to the younger members only, for they can be expanded to include undertakings that would appeal, in a great measure, to our members beyond the youth stage— to women as well as men. Of course, it stands to reason that such competitive activities as softball and basketball are too fast for the older people and many of the young, too, but not so in bowling, balina, horseshoe-pitching, and other less active sports. Everyone can learn to enjoy the fun and the spirit of friendly indoor or outdoor competition in these games. With the older members mixing in with the young—each group trying to get along with the other, the possibilities in this field are unlimited. This is also true of every other activity in the Society. No doubt a time will come when som« of the lodges will have to put the "brakes" on over-emphasis of sports. In a fraternal organization, such as the SNPJ, sports for the sake of sports alone is not enough. Caution will need to be excercised against wasteful expenditure of money from local and national funds. It must be reslized that if money of the Society and lodge is spent for this purpose and no returns or benefits noticeable, there will be an unfriendly reaction from all corners. In other words, lodges and Circles who sponsor sports and receive financial aid should show an increase in activities other than rports—in the social and educational fields, as well as membership drives, to be entitled to additional aid in the future. 0 # • • • Inter-lodge league ... All four SNPJ lodges on Chicago's southsidc were represented at the meeting held at the home of Joseph Kosich last Sunday afternoon. Present were Louis Kosele for calumet Sentinels 610, Mery Slobodnik and Frank Schwelger for Lodge 400, Joseph Puss 11 and William Bllsbarrow for Trailblazcrs 100, John Bajuk, Joseph Kosich. Mike Chandek and Frank Kosich for Dclavec 8, and the writer. The main purpose of the meeting, to organize an inter-lodge howling league for the coming season, was attained. The ground work has been laid for a possible eight team mixed handicap league. Tentative arrangements have already been made as to the most convenient alleys for the majority of bowlers, as well as to the choice of day and time of bowling sessions. Serving as temporary chairman and re-ordlng-secretary, until permanent ifficers are chosen, are Michael Vr-'lovnik and Louis Kosela, respec-Mvely. A committee of two, John Bajuk and Joseph Kosich, were instructed to proceed at once with .eservation of alleys and to obtain ill necessary Information on bowl-rng fees, duration of season, etc. for 'he next meeting in July. At that meeting the representatives will be expected to submit lists of all pros-Motive bowlers in their lodges. Rules, which will be prepared in 'he meantime, will also be reviewed nd discussed, and further considers-'ion will be given to the organize-'ion of s permanent Inter-lodge omrrittee for the purpose of promoting sports and recreations for •he benefit of all members. A good -tart has Veen made by the south-tide lodges In this direction. Now 'et's keep right on going and growing for a bigger and more active SNPJ. • • • • • Juvenile Circles . . . News from Sygan. With •II these advantages, the Circle has a very bright future ahead of It. Another Juvenile Circle, this one at Detroit. Mich. is staging a comeback under Its former manager and Supreme Board member, Ray Tree* nink. Brother Travnik is back at the helm of the "Spirits of Detroit" Circle again, after spending several years in the armed forces. He reports that the first meeting was held last Friday evening before a nice attendance of members. Officers were elected, meeting dates set, and plans for the future outlined. The indications are that from now on juvenile activities in the Motor City will begin to hum with excitement and accomplishment. With assurance of good leadership and a cooperative membership, including the parents of the juveniles, the "Spirits of Detroit" Circle is bound to succeed. Ambrldge Revellers (888) is another of our Pennsylvania lodges who have begun to give more attention to the juvenile members, and a wise policy this will prove to be in the not too distant future. The Juvenile Director has forwarded information on how io organise a Circle to Valentine Kosela whose recent letter contained the request. Avella, Universal, Aliquippa, Library, Southview, Meadowlands, Bur-gettstown, Pittsburgh and other towns are prospective centers in this territory for active Juvenile Circles. Give juveniles sports, recreations, socials, programs and meetings. Give them a chance to help themselves— to bring out the good that is in them. That's the way to build a stronger SNPJ in your locality. We urge every lodge to support the Juvenile Circle movement by taking action to organize one or giving the one it already has new encouragement and a vote of confidence. * » • » » Pennsylvania SNPJ Day, a gala outdoor celebration and reunion, will be held next Sunday, June 30, at spacious South Park, located near the city of Pittsburgh. According to Larry Cassol, district representative of the National Athletic Board, an interesting program of sports has been arranged for this important occasion, which will include two coftball games, one of which will bring together the Ambridge Revellers and the Strabane Pioneers in a regular league contest which was rained out on May 26, while the other game will engage two juvenile teams, one composed of players representing the Circles at Strabane and the other the Veronian Jrs. Circle of Verona. The combined program of entertainment, speakers, dance and sports activities will make attendance at this SNPJ Day celebration a "must" event for every member for miles around . . . Because of the festivities at South Park, the Federation Softball League of W.
