Praznujemo dan Boga-Ljubezni, ki nas vabi,
naj si medsebojno podelimo njegovo ljubezen, naj
sprejmemo njegovo velikodušno ljubezen in nanjo odgovorimo s hvaležno ljubeznijo. Razodetje
Svete Trojice je zelo pomembno, saj nam daje
razumeti, da Bog ni nekakšen monolit, temveč
skupnost oseb-občestvo: Oče, Sin in Sveti Duh.
Današnji odlomek iz Matejevega evangelija
je edino besedilo v Novi zavezi, kjer so skupaj
predstavljena tri imena: »Oče, Sin in Sveti Duh«. Odlomek temelji na
besedilu iz Pete Mojzesove knjige, ki hvali božjo velikodušnost v svojem
razodevanju in razdeljevanju svoje ljubezni.
Vstali Gospod pošilja svoje učence poučevati vse narode in jih krščevati v imenu Očeta in Sina in Svetega Duha. Kristjani smo bili krščeni v
imenu teh treh oseb. Krst nas je včlenil v notranjost Svete Trojice: smo v
odnosu z Očetom, ki nas rojeva za novo življenje; s Sinom, ki nas je odrešil; in s Svetim Duhom, ki nam posreduje božje življenje.
Tako Matej v sklepu svojega evangelija izrazi božji dar v vsej popolnosti. Božji Sin je postal človek, da bi razodel Očetovo ljubezen in da bi
nam posredoval Svetega Duha. Učlovečenje in odrešenje imata namen,
da nas uvedeta v najbolj notranje življenje Boga, ki je življenje ljubezni.
Gre za tako močno ljubezen, da naredi, da so Oče, Sin in Sveti Duh en
sam Bog: »Ne v edinosti ene same osebe, temveč v Trojici enega samega
bistva, kot molimo v hvalospevu današnje sv. maše.
Naša srca so lahko vesela in hvaležna za ta božji dar. Morda se premalo zavedamo privilegija: da smo lahko deležni življenja Sv. Trojice in
smo včlenjeni v njeno skrivnost z živo udeležbo. Vedeti, da je Bog edinost
treh oseb, je za nas že zelo pomembno spoznanje, živeti v občestvu z
božjimi osebami pa je nekaj še bolj dragocenega.
V prvem berilu se Mojzes obrača k izvoljenemu ljudstvu, da bi ga
spodbudil k občudovanju božje velikodušnosti. Bog se je razodel judovskemu ljudstvu. Božje razodetje na Sinaju je doseglo vse ljudi, ki so slišali božji glas, ki je govoril v ognju. Mojzes je poudaril ta nenavadni odnos

med Bogom in ljudstvom. Rekel je: »Ali se je kdaj zgodilo kaj tako velikega, ali se je kdaj slišalo kaj takega!
Je mar katero ljudstvo slišalo glas Boga, govorečega
iz sredine ognja, kakor si slišalo ti, in ostalo živo?«
Mojzes je hotel, da bi Izraelci znali ceniti božjo
pobudo glede sinajske zaveze, ki je vzpostavila močno
povezavo med majhnim ljudstvom in Bogom, stvarnikom nebes in zemlje. Nedvomno vzbuja občudovanje,
ko vidimo božjo velikodušnost do tega malega naroda. Vendar nas krščansko razodetje lahko še bolj preseneča. Gre namreč za zavezo, ki je veliko bolj notranja. Jeremija je napovedal novo zavezo, kjer bodo
zakoni zapisani v srca, da bo zaveza, ki bo v najbolj
notranji povezavi z Bogom; in tudi Ezekijel je govoril
o novem srcu in novem duhu. Ta nova zaveza vernike
uvaja v najbolj notranjo povezavo z Bogom.
Bog je ljudem razodel svojo najglobljo skrivnost.
Ljudje lahko z razumom dospemo do priznanja obstoja Stvarnika, ne moremo pa prepoznati Svete Trojice. Ta skrivnost presega sposobnosti človeškega razuma. Ne gre le za razumsko spoznanje najbolj notranje božje skrivnosti: to spoznanje ni pristno, če ni
obenem tudi osebno deleženje pri tej skrivnosti.
V drugem berilu nam Pavel pravi, da smo prejeli
»duha posinovljenja, v katerem kličemo: »Aba, Oče!«
Božja moč lahko v človeku vzbudi občutek strahu
in neke vrste suženjstvo, kajti resnično gre za moč, ki
na neskončen način presega človeške sposobnosti.
Zato Pavel nadaljuje: »Saj niste prejeli duha suženjstva, da bi spet zapadli v strah.«
Sinovski odnos, ki nas združuje z Bogom in s Kristusom, je delo Svetega Duha: »Sam Duh pričuje našemu duhu, da smo Božji otroci.« K Očetu se lahko v
molitvi obrnemo s sinovskim zaupanjem; imamo namreč privilegij, da se lahko z njim združimo, ne v
strahu, temveč v globokem zaupanju - ker smo hvaležni Svetemu Duhu, ki pričuje, da smo Božji otroci.
Naš odnos s Sveto Trojico je torej za nas vir velikega veselja, vendar postavlja tudi velike zahteve. Pristna ljubezen namreč vpleta vse naše človeške sposobnosti in zahteva podaritev nas samih. Božja ljubezen
je kot ogenj. Vendar ni treba, da nas to prestraši. Naprej lahko gremo v zaupanju, kajti podpira nas božja
milost in nam pomaga pri napredovanju v ljubezni, ki
je sodeleženje pri življenju same Svete Trojice.

his followers to make disciples of, and
baptise, all nations in the name of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He
promises to be with them to the end of
time.
“Teach them to observe all the commands
I gave you.”

The Catholic House of Prayer on the Scottish
island of Iona sits on a hill and its oratory offers a
beautiful view over the tranquil Sound of Iona.
Behind the altar is a Celtic cross of Iona, made
from distinctive Iona green marble. There are
also sayings of St Columba, who founded the first
monastic community on the island 1,400 years
ago. The first Celtic crosses appeared on Iona
from around AD 800.
The Celtic cross is a symbol found all over
England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland – particularly in churchyards. The cross itself represents
the suffering and death of Jesus, but what makes
it unique is the addition of the circle. The circle
suggests the circle of life and the cycle of the
seasons, and it is also a symbol of wholeness,

become one in body and spirit. The Holy Spirit connects us all to each other, and to the natural world. The
Celtic Christians’ love and honour of the natural world,
God’s creation, was paramount. That’s evident in the
surviving stories about the earliest saints of the Celtic
Christian world and their bonds with nature.

Application
completeness, unity and infinity. Many see it as representing the eternal love of God. It reminds us that we
are a Christian community that is a friend of the poor,
a friend of creation, and a friend of God.
The early Celtic pioneers and saints who created
the Celtic crosses lived in violent times, in lands
wracked by petty politics, tribal feuding, constant migration and its ensuing ethnic and racial tensions. Extreme wealth was in the hands of a few, and there was
a downtrodden hidden majority – not unlike some of
the problems we face today!

Gospel Teaching
Matthew’s Gospel today ends with the baptismal
formula of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus names
the three Persons of God. On Trinity Sunday, we celebrate our common divine origin – collective offspring
of God with one shared life in the Holy Spirit. God has
been present in the world from its beginning and the
first reading tells us that God rules on Earth as in heaven. We celebrate this every time we say the “Our Father”, particularly “thy will be done on Earth as it is in
heaven.”
The Trinity holds all things together and is a model
of mutuality. The parts are all aspects of the same God
– God as Creator and Maker of Creation, God before us
and over us; God incarnate as Jesus Christ, fully human, fully divine, God beside us; and the mutual love
and Wisdom that is Spirit breathed into our very lives
and into all creation. In the Trinity there is no hierarchy: only mutual love and harmony.
We pray repeatedly during our Eucharistic celebration to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that we may

fire and murder, battles and desecration over the centuries to once again support a vibrant faith community.
The ecumenical Iona Community today focuses on
global peace, social justice initiatives and environmental care. It invites pilgrims from around the world to
pray and study with them at Iona Abbey, surrounded
by Celtic crosses.
Our natural environment is one of the greatest examples we have of God's power. Creation is a precious
and holy resource, for God’s spirit is in all that lives.
And yet the beauty and diversity of God is being diminished as millions suffer desperate poverty, creatures go
extinct, Earth’s climate is heating up because of human
activity, and waters are polluted. We have a responsibility to ensure that the world is a place that can sustain all of God's people into the future and we must
appreciate our interconnections with the rest of creation. Pope Francis called for this in his 2015 encyclical
Laudato Si, where he urged human society “to hear the
cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor”.
The holidays will be starting soon. Let us enjoy
green spaces and urge children to appreciate the life in
the grass, plants and hedges. Let us appreciate the
fertility of soil and the wonder of birdsong in the dawn
chorus, and see the Spirit of God at work in creation,
especially in all new life. May we be sensitive to, and
support, action campaigns to protect vulnerable communities and natural resources. The Church has Caritas
agencies, peace organisations and environmental initiatives which can help us to do this.
Let us pray that we experience God’s enduring
presence in our lives; that we may experience enduring
gratitude for who we are and for what the universe is.

LJUTOMERSKI OKTET
V soboto, 18. maja 2024, je pri nas gostoval Ljutomerski oktet. Zapeli so že med
mašo ob 5:30 p.m.; kot vstopno pesem so si
izbrali »V moji duši …«, nadaljevali mašne
dele iz 7. Troštove maše in pa nekaj ljudskih,
tako, da so lahko tudi ljudje v cerkvi sodelovali.
Po maši pa so imeli kratek koncert kar v
cerkvi. Zbralo se nenavadno veliko ljudi glede na to, da je bil »Long weekend« in sobota
zvečer. Nekateri so našli še kakšne znance iz
svojih krajev.
Oktet je res zelo dobro uglašen, z ubranim petjem so pritegnili poslušalce, tako, da
je bila res popolna tišina v cerkvi, saj so
pesmi kar zadonele. Letos naša župnija in
tudi oni obhajajo 60 letnico obstoja in so
hoteli obeležiti to obletnico s tem gostovanjem.
Po koncertu pa so še pokramljali na
hodniku, potem pa smo jih povabili v župnišče na okrepčilo, kjer so še kakšno zapeli
tudi pri mizi.
V nedeljo so nadaljevali svojo turnejo s
petjem v Torontu in okolici. Hvala Marjanu
Kolariču, ki je organiziral njihovo turnejo in
Johnu Berniku, ki je bil njihov vodič in šofer.

Ljutomerski oktet

Slovenski Park - Long weekend
V Slovenskem parku se vsako leto pričenja živahno delovanje s pričetkom v majskem »Long weekendu«. Letos, zaradi nedokončanih električnih del - napeljujejo novo elektriko do parcel - je bilo
manj ljudi. To se je poznalo tudi pri maši in procesiji. Ker je še vse precej razkopano, so maša ni bila
pri kapelici. Vsekakor je lepo vreme pomagalo, da smo lahko imeli mašo zunaj na ploščadi ob dvorani in po maši procesijo z dvema oltarjema. Hvala Martini za koordinacijo in vsem, ki so pripravili vse
za mašo in oltarje za procesijo; tudi bralcem božje besede pri maši: Martini in Heidy. Po maši pa smo
še blagoslovili na novo asfaltirano in preurejeno igrišče. Tudi »Moya« je primaknila svoj delež.

Last week we upgraded our sound system
in the church to better serve us. In these last
15 years, when this was done, many components stopped working. The newer technology helps better to set up the whole system for
the needs of today. The work was done by
