To kažejo že slovenske jezikovne meje z Italijo. Dolga stoletja smo bili popolnoma pod vplivom italijanskega patriarhata v Akvileji. Razočarani so, ker morajo svojemu narodu priznati, da so ga "farbali" s svojimi "Carniolia Italiana" in drugimi takimi knjigami in spisi. Narod se j\2 more več zadrževati in zadnje čase daje jasneje duška svoji mržnji do teh svojih zavojevalcev. Utaplja se v krvi in solzah. Ubogi narod! Tu v Ameriki nam vsem Slovencem srce krvavi, ko čitamo ta najnovejša poročila in solze nam polnijo naše oči. Z narodom doma čutimo in z njim trpimo. Supreme President asks that the committees work faster and complete their reports as soon as possible. Supreme Secretary reported that the Committee on Telegrams dispatched the telegrams as approved except for the one to Pope Pius as it was explain-ed that due to present day conditions the telegram would not reach him. Chairman of Sick Committee, Michael Zlate, presents report as follows: "Committee on Sick Benefit met August 18th, 1942, at 2:30 P. M. in Convention Hali. All members of committee present except Bostian Znidarsic, No. 113, and Henry Fon, No. 52." After reading the by-laws in individual articles on Sick Benefit, the committee of the XX regular convention of KSKJ recommends the following: Recommendation Addition to Article S: a) Members in military service should voluntarily vvith-draw drom the Centralized Sick Benefit Division. b) Members in military service upon release from his du-ties and receiving his discharge papers and fourtd to be in good health can be reinstated in the KSKJ Sick Benefit Division within 60 days after discharge. Article 35: Subordinate lodge| in Centralized Sick Benefit Division, can elect delegates from only those members vvho belong to the Centralized Sick Benefit Division. Meeting of Sick Benefit Committee Aug. 19—10:45 A. M. All members of the committee present. The minutes of the previous day vvere read and motion made, seconded and carried that they be accepted as read. Letter from the State of Nevv York, Insurance Department, Albany, New York, read to the committee: STATE OF NEW YORK INSURANCE DEPARTMENT ALBANY Dec. 6, 1941 To All Fraternal Benefit Societies With Accident and Sickness Branches Gentlemei* Section 461 Subdivision (3) provides that no society author-ized to do business in this state "shall, in this -state or else-vvhere insure members for tem-porary or permanent disability benefits unless the rates there-for are adequate upon the basis of tables based upon reliable experience vvith an interest as-sumption not higher than four per cent per annum." It is requested that your so-ciety furnish this office vvith the follovving information prior to March 1,1942: (1) A full description of all permanent or temporary dis-ability benefits or accident and sickness benefits granted by your society, including vvaiting periods, annual or aggregate limitations as to benefits, lim-iting age, etc. * (2) A table of the rates for such benefits. Section 470, subdivisions (5) and (7), further providps that adequate reserves shall be held and maintained to cover benefits payable on account of dis-ability resulting from accident, sickness or other bodily infirm-ity and vvhether temporary, total or permanent. (3) A statement as to the morbidity experience table and rate of interest used in calcu-lating such rates and also in-dicating vvhether any distinc-tion is made in the rates for age, sex, size of benefits, etc. (4) A statement as to the basis of the reserves reported in the 1941 statement, including the formulae used in deter-mining such reserves and by vvhom computed. (5) A statement as to vvhether the actuary of your soci-?ty, vvithin the past three years, las made any investigation of vour morbidity experience. If »o, please forvvard a copy of any such report. Except vvhere reserves are being held on either Hunter's Disability Table or the Class III Disability Experience or ex-cept in the case of certificates insuring against disability resulting solely from accident, the Department vvill require a ^upplement to the 1941 valua-tion report in the form of a cer-tification by your Actuary that in his opinion the rates being sharged and the reserves maintained are adequate to meet the promised benefits on all accident and sickness certificates and a further report by your Actuary of the actual and ex-pected morbidity during 1941 according to 5-year age groups and using the same experience tables a^opted for premium rates and]reserves. We suggest that your Actuary be immedi-ately informed of such require-ments as of December 30,1941. More detailed instructions vvill be forwarded to your society at alater date. Please acknovvledge receipt of this letter. t ' Yours very truly Louis H. Pink, Superintendent of Insurance. After debate the follovving vvas recommended to the convention : In case the insurance depart-ment of the State of Nevv York insistsjhat the KSKJ Sick Benefit Fund must be 100% solvent the same as the mortuary fund, the age limit for payment of sick benefit premiums could be lovvered, but under no conditions shall there be an increase in the present rate of assessments. The ruling of the insurance department regarding members clder than 65 years to vvhom the lavv prohibits the payment of sick benefit — is referred to the members of the Supreme Board, i. e. the Supreme Secre-tary to solve. The vvork of this committee being completed the meeting adjourned at 11:30 A. M. Signed: Michael Zlate, President; Andrevv Hochevar, Secretary. Motion made, seconded, and carried that the report of the Sick Benefit Committee be accepted as read vvith the rulings of the Supreme Board incorpor-ated. (This has already been done in the report as publish- ed.) Supreme Secr*tary explams that it seems somevvhat foolish to have members in military service pay operation, disabil-ity or sick benefit assessment because it vvould be difficult to knovv just vvhere and how to lo-cate a member vvho is in service as they are all over the vvorld. Supreme President asks that motion be made that the operation, disability and sick benefit assessments be eliminated during service. Hovvever, each member m military service can do as he vvishes; if he vvishe? to keep on paying all assessments he vvill be entitled to all benefits. Motion made, seconded and carried that recommendation for the operation and disability assessment be accepted. Motion made ,seconded and i arried that since the Sick Benefit Committee has presented its report and has completed its vvork, the committee stfall be dissolved. Supreme President informs the assembly that the convention delegates picture is ready and those vvho order same vvithin the next hour vvill receive their copy tomorrovv for $1.00. Copies by mail vvill cost $1.25. Telegrams and greetings read by Assistant Secretary.
