Skromnost
Ko so apostoli na poti v Jeruzalem Jezusa slišali, da se mora tisti, ki hoče postati njegov učenec, „odpovedati vsemu, kar ima", ker „nihče ne more služiti Bogu in mamonu", so ga prosili: „Pomnoži nam vero!" . Iz Jezusovega odgovora razberemo, da ga apostoli niso prosili, naj pomnoži njihovo vero, ampak da bi njihovi veri dodal moč, da bi mogli spolnjevati, kar zahteva od njih. Samo vera, ki je popolna in nezadržana podaritev človeka Bogu, je zveličavna vera. Do take vere pa človek ne more s svojimi močmi, ampak mu jo lahko podari samo Bog. Če ima človek samo kanček take vere, zmore velike reči pred Bogom.
Jezus to pove s primero o murvi. Črna murva ima tako močne korenine, da doseže starost, kljub neugodnemu vremenu, do 600 let. In vendar pravi Jezus, da je potrebno izreči samo eno besedo in murva se bo s koreninami izrula in presadila v morje. Primera ponazarja vero, ki je okrepljena z božjo močjo. Taka vera stori, da postane človek deležen božjega življenja. Ker so apostoli na misijonskem potovanju že doživljali moč vere, saj so jim bili takrat „duhovi pokorni", zato zdaj Jezusa prosijo, da bi za vedno dodal njihovi veri božjo moč. Samo tako bo njihova vera zveličavna in samo tako bodo po veri deležni božjega življenja.
Prilika o hlapcu - Kar težko razumemo, kako je mogel gospodar tako brezčutno postopati s svojim hlapcem. Hlapec je ves dan delal na polju in ko je zvečer prišel utrujen domov, zanj še ni bilo počitka in ne večerje. Najprej se je moral prepasati in pripraviti večerjo svojemu gospodarju, ki je ves dan doma poležaval ali opravljal kakšne druge lažje posle. - Za nas je pomemben nauk te prilike. Najprej nas prilika uči, kakšni so medsebojni človeški odnosi, kjer ni Boga. Tam je človek samo človek, največkrat pa celo samo številka. Kjer ni Boga, se ponižuje tudi človeško dostojanstvo. Glavni nauk prilike pa je, da se ne smemo nikdar sklicevati na delo, ki smo ga bili dolžni opraviti. Tudi rabi Johanan ben Zakkai je učil: „Četudi si spolnil veliko postave, se ti to ne šteje v dobro, kajti zato si bil ustvarjen, da boš spolnjeval postavo." Tako so tudi Judje mislili, da jim kraljestvo samo po sebi pripada, če spolnjujejo postavo.
LONDON -TRIGLAV: V nedeljo 29. septembra sva po angleški maši z gospodom Goranom Merico, murskosoboškim stolnim kaplanom odrajžala do slovenske skupnosti v Londonu, ker je g. Goran vodil sveto mašo. Zelo veliko število se nas je zbralo ob tej priložnosti. V kuhinji so pripravili dobro kosilo za vse, ki
so se hoteli okrepiti. Po maši pa so nekateri ostali v prijateljskem klepetu pri mizah, drugi pa so se podali na balinišče, da si razmigajo roke in noge.
Isto nedeljo pa je g. škof dr. Peter Štumpf daroval sveto mašo v Torontu pri Brezmadežni in nato še na Boltonu pri kapelici. Obiskal je tudi framo Večerni zvon.
Slovenska šola je s polno paro začela s poukom. Razredi so se zopet napolnili z živžavom. Lepo je gledati otroke in mlade, ki tako najdejo pot do spoznavanja slovenskega jezika, kuture in novih prijateljstev.
ZLATA POROKA
V nedeljo, 29. oktobra 2013, na praznik nadangelov sta obhajala zlato poroko naša farana FRANC in LJUDMILA ZADRAVEC. Gospod Goran Marica njima je med slovesnko mašo podelil blagoslov, da bi ju Bog še dolgo ohranjal zdrava in v medsebojnem razumevanju in ljubezni.

In the 2001 film The Man Who Sued God, Scottish comedian Billy Connolly plays a disgruntled lawyer who ploughs his savings into buying a boat and sets off to sail the high seas. But his boat is destroyed by lightning and the insurance company refuses to pay out, claiming that this was an "act of God". So Connolly's character goes to court to sue God - or at least God's representatives, the Pope and the local bishop - in an attempt to get redress for his loss.
Although the film is a comedy, the issue it deals with is distressingly real. Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel recalls how he once witnessed a similar trial in Auschwitz when three pious rabbis decided to indict God for violating the covenant by turning his back in silence on the Jewish people and refusing to act in their hour of greatest need. The trial lasted several nights. Witnesses were heard, evi-
dence was gathered, the verdict was unanimous: God was found guilty of crimes against humanity. A long, stunned silence followed. Then one of the rabbis looked at the sky and said, "It's time for evening prayers," and the members of the court duly prayed the evening service together.
Gospel Teaching
Some may see a contradiction in praying to a God you have just put on trial, but, in fact, this is in line with the Jewish tradition of being completely devoted to God while feeling totally frustrated by God's silence and inaction. The Psalms are full of such questions: "How long, O Lord?"; "Why have you forgotten me?"; "Why are you so distant?"; "Wake up Lord!"; "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Yet, always in the scriptures, these heartfelt outbursts end with an expression of trust in God's faithfulness, a remembering of who God is. The prophet Habakkuk echoes that tradition. He bemoans God's refusal to listen and respond, while also recording the Lord's promise that his vision, his word, will succeed in what it was sent to do - that the vision will be fulfilled even "if it comes slowly". God simply tells Habakkuk: Wait, trust, keep faith - "the upright man will live by his faithfulness".
Today's Gospel echoes the call to remain faithful. This section of Luke's Gospel deals with the challenging demands of discipleship. Jesus calls his disciples to be people of faith - he says that even a small amount of faith is enough to work miracles, to achieve great things. The disciples should not regard themselves as being owed anything, as if God should thank them for their faith and service - as though this placed God in their debt. Rather, they should remember what God has done for them, that they are the ones who in fact owe God - for their redemption, their
salvation, their new life. The next passage in Luke's Gospel tells the story of Jesus curing ten lepers, of whom only one came back to thank Jesus. Jesus invites the disciples to see themselves as that leper - people who have been healed, reconciled, gifted by God's love. If they remember who God is - and what God has done for them - then they too will wish to give God thanks. In the image of today's Gospel, they will serve the Lord, not hoping for reward or thanks, but simply in response to God's kindness and love for them.
Application
Today's Gospel speaks of the obedience that is the only proper response to God's love. If we look for reward, if our motive in serving God is self-serving, then we miss the point. Another Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl, suggested that if we live our lives in the pursuit of our own happiness, then it will elude us. He said that we can only find happiness by forgetting about it and by dedicating our lives to a cause greater than ourselves.
This counter-intuitive logic makes sense for the Christian. We do not serve God out of fear, or stale duty, or even hope of heaven, but rather, because we know - we remember - what the Lord has done for us. Even when life makes us wonder if God is listening at all, even when we feel overwhelmed, we cling to our faith, because it is rooted in God's prior faithfulness and graciousness to us. Remembering this is what enables us to live by faith, even in the face of the apparent silence or absence of God. It is such faith that moves mountains, uproots mulberry trees and enables men and women to pray, even in the hell of Auschwitz.

Tudi naša župnija je vsako leto povabljena da na tak ali drugačen način sodeluje. Letos smo povabljeni, da v slovenščini preberemo prvo berilo, naš mešani zbor pa bo zapel slovensko pesem pri obhajilu, na koncu pa bomo sodelovali pri skupni pesmi - Aleluji /tisti, ki ste bili pri maši za jesenski banket ste jo lahko slišali/. Po maši je vedno še kratek kulturni program v dvorani pod cerkvijo. Vsaka žuupnija pa je povabljena, da speče kakšno pecivo, značilno za tisti narod. Če bi bil kdo pripravljen, da speče za našo župnijo, naj prinese tisto nedeljo v župnišče.
