Informacijski strokovnjaki ostajajo neizogiben člen med uporabni­ ki, informacijskimi mediji in viri. Vedno bolj sodelujejo tudi pri seznanjanju uporabnikov z novimi tehnologijami. Posredovanje informacij, čeravno pomemb­ no, je zgolj posledica predhodnega urejanja in generiranja informacij, kar je še ena pomembna razsežnost dela informacijskih strokovnjakov. Le-ti lahko vplivajo tudi na izboljšano informacijsko vrednost tiskanih virov, tako da uredništvom predlagajo izboljšavo uredniškega dela. UDC 002.6:659.25 Summ ary The article shows the complexity of roles of modern libraries or information centers in circumstances of growing amount of information, information techno­ logies and information needs. Information professionals remain indispensable link between end-users, information media and sources. They are also increasing­ ly involved in conveying new technologies to the end-users. Information dissemi­ nation, however important, is only a result of anterior organizing and generating information which is another important function of information professionals. They may by encouraging better editing also improve information value of published material. BARTOL, mag.
