Theinfluenceofvariouselementsofentrepreneurialeducation onstudents’entrepreneurialmindsethasbeenthetopicofseveral studies.Acasestudyofseveralyearsininnovativeformsofteaching entrepreneurshipwithanemphasisonchallenge-basedlearningis presentedinthearticleofD.Berginc,V.JoštLešerand,K.Kraškovic fromSlovenia,inwhichtheauthorsanalysethechallenge-based learninginterventionsandprogressinstudents’entrepreneurial mindset.Seniorstudentsprovidedmoresolutionproposalscom- paredtojuniorswhiletheirsolutionstotheproblemsthecompany facedinthecasestudyweremoremulti-disciplinaryandintercon- nected,thusexhibitingmorematurityandcomprehensivenessof volume16|2023|number1|7–9 [8] JakaVadnjal theoverviewofthesituation.Overall,studentsinthethirdyear showedahigherdegreeofentrepreneurialmindset. Thisentrepreneurialmindsetisoftendemonstratedbythepo- tentialsuccessorsoffamilybusinesseswhohaveoptionstoproceed withtheircareersasentrepreneurs,independentlyoftheexisting familybusinesses,oraremoreinclinedtotakeoverfamilybusi- nessesanddeveloptheirentrepreneurialcareerswithinthem.The studybyA.KumeandF.JaupifromAlbaniapresentsimportant findingsconcerningtheprofileofsubjectswithentrepreneurship intentiontoestablishtheirownbusinesscomparedtothosewho arewillingtobepartoftheirintergenerationfamilybusiness. Asimilar,yetdifferentapproachwasdevelopedbyD.Y.Pavlov andS.S.RuskovafromBulgaria,whoinvestigatedtheroleofauni- versityandtherelevantministryandgovernmentsupporttomake universitydepartmentsmoreentrepreneurial,whichcanalsobe achievedthroughtheconceptoftheintergenerationalfamilybusi- nessecosystemapproach. Inaneweraofhighereducationmarkedbyinternationalrivalry, universityrankingshavegrowninsignificance.Theiremergencehas beenwelcomedwithagreatdealofskepticism,someenthusiasm, andinstitutionaluneasiness.Theyarefrequentlycontentiousand thesubjectofsubstantialdebate.Rankingsystemsareunavoidable; thus,itiscriticaltoconsiderhowtheywillaffectthehigheredu- cationindustryanditsstakeholders.TheauthorsM.Bojadjiev,I. Mileva,S.PavlovaandV.KrliufromNorthernMacedoniaacknowl- edgetheneedfordevelopingarankingsystemwithintheBalkan regionandproposeanewrankingsystem,whichwouldtakeinto accounttheambitionforamorecreativeandentrepreneurialorien- tationstudyasanoutcomeofahighereducationinstitutioninthe region. Theearlyintroductionofthecorporategovernanceecosystem seemstobeimportantforthepotentialgrowingentrepreneurial venturesspinningofffromuniversitysupportinitiatives.Thepa- perbyK.GladovičfromSloveniaaimstocomparethelegalframe- workforcorporategovernanceinselectedeconomiestohighlight theprogressmadesofaraswellastheshortcomingsoftheexisting ijems InnovationandEntrepreneurialUniversityEcosystems [9] framework.Thereareseveraldifferencesbetweencountriesincor- porategovernanceapproaches:fromnationalapproachestoexer- cisingtheownershipfunction;boardnomination,compositionand efficiency;toequitabletreatmentofshareholders;implementation oftheeudirectiveonnon-financialanddiversityinformation;rule oflaw;sustainablegovernanceeffectivenessandinnovationscore. Inthisspecialissuewehighlightcertaintheoreticalandempiri- calstudiesontheeffectsofentrepreneurialecosystemsanduniver- sityinnovationinEuro-Mediterraneannations.Wereceivedcontri- butionsfromscholarsbelongingtomanymanagementandsocial sciencesectors,andbelievethatthespecialissuepapersprovide asignificanttheoreticalcontributioninkeepingwiththescopeof ijems,alongwithasuitablemethodologicalapproach. volume16|2023|number1
