Dva Gruberjeva popisa želja prim- erjamo z nabavami njegovega sodelavca Orlanda na podobni šoli v Trstu. Na grobo ovrednotimo njuna gmotna sredstva pred- videna za nakupe. Dokazujemo, da je Gruber znotraj tedan- je jezuitske knjižnice v knjige svojega odd- elka vpisoval poseben lastniški vpis »Zur Mechanik«. Gruber nikakor ni naročal le jezuitskih avtorjev, nabave pa pričajo o njegovi izrazito praktični usmeritvi in o nekateri vzporednih bolj teoretični zani- manjih namenjenih predvsem optiki. Abstract We examined the list of books and instru- ments which the professor Gabriel Gruber tried to order immediately after his arrival to Ljubljana in 1768. They were later very instrumental in teaching engineering sci- ences to George Vega and other students. We compared two listings of Gruber’s wish- es with the contemporary reports on books which his collaborator Orlando bought at the similar Jesuit school at Trieste. Some rough estimation about their budgets were tried. We claimed that Gruber wrote special ex- libris »Zur Mechanik« in the books belong- ing to his department, which was not pre- viously known. He did not order just Jesuit authors.
