Danes smo torej končno tukaj, pred vrati; čakamo, da jih počasi odpremo in stopimo čez prag ambulant, zdravstvenih domov, bolnišnic in klinik. Še malo in pričeli se bomo srečevati na hodnikih, vsi Ceremonial speech -graduation ceremony lune 15, 2017 Man reaps the reward when he follows his deepest intention. As graduates, we have been growing and developing over the years with the motivation to reach a day such as this one. We have dreamed that, after years of putting much effort and time into our studies, a door to a new world will be opened to us, so we shall be able to help people on their path to health using the knowledge and skills that we have acquired. Therefore, we are finally here today in front of the door and we are waiting to open it slowly before crossing over the threshold at doctors' surgeries, health centers, hospitals and clinics. Each one of us, in our own way, is following our dreams. On this occasion, we would like to thank everyone who helped us on this path. First, we thank all faculty members, Mr Dean, and all the professors who have brought their knowledge, experiences and examples into our lecture rooms. We are grateful for your readiness and self-sacrifice when you have found the time, energy, and passion to teach us in addition to conducting your own work. A huge number of diplomas have already been bestowed on graduates by our faculty, and many more will be bestowed in the future, which is why we believe that you surely do not carry each of us in your memories. However, we will carry you in our memories and we will continue to do so because you have helped us overcome obstacles during exam periods and motivated us on the path to graduation. We have not always seen the sense of dealing with the most difficult themes at 7 pm and sometimes even on Fridays, or why you demanded knowledge of the fine print and why it did not seem important to us, or why there were no compromises regarding exams at the start of summer on hot July days. Today, we would like to tell you that we are honestly grateful for everything! We are thankful zaposleni, kar naenkrat tudi mi, kot zdravniki, sprva majhni, a bomo rastli. We know that all your efforts are connected to our future success in some way. The majority of our professors are physicians, also. Soon, we will begin to meet in corridors and we will grow as physicians ourselves, from our initial low standing. Although we will soon be colleagues, you will always remain authorities whom we respect deeply. We would like you to remain our professors in the future, too, so you can guide us in our work even when it is rarely needed, but also to reprimand us if necessary, and to compliment us, while mainly serving as role models from whom we will continue to learn. Thank you. During a crisis, Jim Collins says that we should look at ourselves in the mirror and ask what has gone wrong, yet when we are successful it is important to obscure the mirror and look through a window at the people who have helped us achieve our success. This is why we would like to thank all our families, partners and friends who stood by our sides during our studies to support and encourage us. It is true that if you work with your heart, nothing is too difficult. Although we would like to have three hearts like Radenska, medical studies cannot and should not be taken lightly for they do not prepare us for easy work. We would like to thank you for understanding that, although it was sometimes hard. However, do not relax too soon because new challenges await us after graduation, and we are likely to need your ongoing support and encouragement. We know you will be there and we would like to thank you because we can count on you. On a day like this, it is appropriate that some gratitude is also shared among ourselves, the graduates. During our studies, we cultivated beautiful relationships and precious friendships, which made our studies more pleasant, fun, and above all, easier. I believe that we will keep these friendships well into the future; we will be proud of them, and they will enrich our careers. Now, it is finally time for us to work in teams, which was always strictly prohibited by our professors during exams. Lucija Pribožič When we leave this hall, let us consider the oath that we have made, as well as the good will we have for each other, and let us quietly squeeze our fists and wish ourselves GOOD LUCK on our new paths. Let me conclude with the following verses by the Slovenian poet Tone Pavček, which are very appropriate today. Maturing as years go by, slowly, in scilence, within, wherever to go and each way to try, each time anew he will have to begin. Lucija Pribožič
