Introduction Already in some previous v^orks (MRŠIČ 1 987 a, b, MRŠIČ and ŠAPKAREV 1987) attention was called to the necessfty of a radical revision of ttie genu^Afhhbopftora EISEN 1 874 (sensu POP 1 941). In the text mention is made first of the genus denominated Aitütübophora lato. The problems concerned relate to the elimination of species from Alhtobophora s. lato to other genera 1, e. species that dearly do not belong to the same group. As of late few authors only have tried to solve the taxonomic problems within the family Lumbrhcidae and thus also the gsnusA/lolobophoras- lato. From this genus species were classified into different genera, however, the diagnoses are based on the species previously grouped inio A//o/obophora s. Isto, namely: Helodrifus HOFFMEISTER 1845 (emend ZI CS 11 985),Proctodrilus IZ\C&\ 1 985), CemoswfowalOMODEO 1 966 (emend. ZICSI 1981, emend. MrSIČ and SAPXLAREV 1987) with the subgenera Cemosvitovia OM O DEO 1956 (emend, M RŠIČ and ŠAPKAREV 1 987) andZicsiona MRŠIČandSAP-KAREV 1987, Bimastos MOORE 1983 lernend. ZICSI 1981 J. Pere/ia nom nov pno EAS-TON 1983 (= Svet/ovfa P£REL 1976 nom. preoc.}, Aporrectodea 0 EH LEY 1385 (sya Ni-cotfn/t/s(BOUGHE 1972, emend. PEREL 1976), Orodrilus BOUCHE 1 972, Proseffodr/lus BOUCHE 1972, Scherotheca BOUCHE 1972, with the subgenera Scheroteca BOUCHE 1 972 and Opothedrilus BOUCHE 1 Q72,Alpodinarideila MRSIČ 1987 with the subgenera A/podinar/deHa MRŠIČ 1987 and DtnarideJIa MRšiČ 1987, and also the subgenus Creineita MRŠIČ 1987, With respect to the other genera into which species were des-sified from the genus A/hlobophora s. lato, I can say that the relevant diagnoses are inconsequent, intermingling due to different points of view and attitudes of the authors to the criteria of significance attributed to single taKonomic characters. On the other hand, certain taxonomic characters have only recently been introduced into this field, to say, the structure and the shape of nephridial bladders that may serve in revising this genus. The purpose of the present text is neither to polemize which of the authors adopted the most reasonable approach to the classification of species from Allohbophora s, lato imo other genera, nor to analyse the criteha applied in putting forward the diagnosess of the ghenera. To this problem a separate chapter will be dedicated wherein a radical revision of the genus Aihtobophora will be performed through the species living in tlie territory of the B a lean Peninsula. In this papei-1 restricted myself to the description of a new genus Meroandrieila and the descriptions of five new species, Meroandrieila g. n. The nephridial biadder is hooked, its glandular (bent) part being oriented toward the back of the body, ft tias two pairs of seminaf vesicles in the 9th arid the 11th segment. The other two pairs of seminal vesicles are perflectly reduced. It has two pairs of sper-mathecae in the lOtti and the 11th segment The calciferous glands with diverticula are in the 10th segment The longitudinal musculatLire is arranged in fascicles. Other characteristics of the genus are included in the description of the species. Type Species: Meroandrieila dinsrica sp. n. Notes; BOUCHEj1972) described a new genus Orodräus on the basis of such species as live in France and in which the seminal vesicles have become reduced. In the French species, however, the seminal vesicles appear in the 10th and the 1 2th segment. The processes of the reduction of seminal vesicles occur also in certain species of the genera Octodrilus OMODEO 1956 and Octoi^loides ZI CS I 1986. fn these genera, too, theseminal ves ides h a ve become red u ce d or e tse ha ve com pi etc ly di sa ppea red fro m the 11 th or the 9th and the 11 th sefjment.
