Naj omenimo, da na 22. junija na slsvju dneva SNPJ v Stra-banu so bil inavzoči vsi odborniki naše federacije poleg velikega števila članov in članic raznih društev. Povod za te razprave so dale nekatere članice, ki so opozorile delegacijo prihodnje konvencije, naj bo bolj pravična napram ženskam pri volitvah v glavni odbor, kajti one tvorijo precejšnji del članstva, kar bo dalo ženskam več poguma pri agitaciji za jeditoto. Nekateri dopisniki so priznali naše poštene zahteve, drugi MUwaukee, Wla.—Društvo Venera 192 SNPJ je sklenilo na zadnji seji, da priredi basket piknik dne 3. avgusta na prijaznem prostoru Franka Klop-•H-a ob državni cesti št. 15 v Novem Berlinu. Če drugod ni ugovora, Čemu bi bil ravno pri nas, saj bi Člani gl. odbora s stalno plačo prejemali od "Social Security" po plači, katero prejemajo, čedno pokojnino. Poleg bi jim pa čisto nič ne Škodovalo, da h koncu njihovega življenja dobijo po trudapolnem delu malo oddiha. Ho bi ne bilo nič krivičnega, pač pa bratsko pravično zanje in organizacijo. Če bi imeli svoj zavod, bi jim lahko podarili brezplačno bivanje do amrti v njem. Za vzgled vzemimo pokojnega Jožeta Za-vertnika. On ni doaegel zgoraj omenjene ataroati, čutil pa je, da ne zmore več. tiatega dela kot ga je nekoč. Ker je bil idealiat in je bil prepričan, oa dosti več ne more dati organizaciji kot ji je dal, ni čakal amrti na uredniškem stolcu in se je rajši umaknil a tem, da ni bil več kandidat za urednika. Pri SNPJ izvoli članstvo svoje delegate, ti se zberejo na konvenciji in izvolijo v odbor tiste, ki jih .smatrajo za sposobne. Pri tistih družbah pa so v odboru ljudje, ki sploh na seje ne prihajajo, ki drugače sploh nimajo nikakih odnošajev z družbo.—Toda videli bomo še več razlik! Namen brstov ns obeh strsneh, ki so se iskreno trudili sa združitev, je bil, ds se tskrst združijo tri orga-nizacije, katere so si bile najso-rodnejše po načelih in sistemu Združitev dveh se je posrečila tretja — SSPZ — Je pa stopila ns strsn. - Nesmiselno bi bilo dsnes ponavljati vzroke, ki so zadržali združitev SNPJ s SSPZ celih 20 let kar je bilo, Je bilo — naj bo pozabljeno med brati! Zamujena združitev dveh naj-sorodnejftih organizacij je naposled pred nami — in sicer je pri lis z veliko boljšo voljo in veli ko večjo brstsko zavestjo kot je mogls priti kdsj prej. Pogodba je dokaz, da ao se njeni avtorji v resnici potrudili, da v prvi vrsti zavarujejo pravice in interese člsnov ns obeh strs neh kolikor je sploh mogoče mejsh realnih razmer in atrogih zakonov. Obe organizaclji~SU medsebojnimi koncesijami popustitvami demonstrirali, da se združujemo kot bratje, ne pa kot trgovci, ki hočejo drug dru gega ociganiti. Edino v tem smislu je bila pogodba realizirana in soglsano sprejeta po glavnima odboroma SNPJ in S8PZ Zadnjo besedo imata zdaj dve konvenciji, ki se sesUneta 13 septembra 1941 v Pittsburghu Pa. Danalnja preizkušnja Amerike je večja kot sta biH Za Savo je imel jednotin predsednik Vincent Cainkar svoj govor, v katerem nam jc podal pregled zgodovine Narodnih vitezov ter pozval tisU, ki še niso v jednoti, naj se ji pridružijo, da bodo Uko deležni njenih dobrin. Posebej pa je še priporočil vsem našim sUršem, naj vpišejo svojo mlsdino vanjo. Mladinski krožek štev. 26 je nam prav primerno predočil pantomimo "SNPJ as Our Pro-teetive Mother." ■ 'v * Zelo zanimiva in užitka polna je bila peta točka tega programa. V njej je nastopiU naša ao-pranistka Ann Beniger Ur nebeško lepo zapela arijo "Palčki" iz Parmovih "Legionarjev in pa Straussovo "The Blue Danube". PRAVICA ZAMENJAVE Člani SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE imajo pravico izročiti svoj zavarovalni certifikat in sprejeti v zameno nov certifikat brez plačila kake priatojbine, in sicer v enaki ali nižji vsoti, na podlagi kateregakoli načrta oertifikatov, katere bi tedej izdajala SLOVENSKA NARODNA PODPORNA JEDNOTA, in sicer ne pod nižjimi prispevki kot za navadno iivljenako zavarovanje. — — VII. IZKAZ PREVZETJA SLOVENSKA NARODNA PODPORNA JEDNOTA se zaveže izdati in poslati vsakemu dobroetoječemu členu SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE* kakor tudi onim članom, ki bi kasneje znali biti upravičeni do tega, certifikat pre-vzetja (assumption certificate), priznavajoč včlanjenje v SLOVENSKI NARODNI PODPORNI JEDNOTI in vae pravice in privilegije pri jednoti, ter vse podpore pod certifiketi, do katerih je član ali njegov dedič upravičen, kot je tukaj določeno. VIII. KRAJEVNA DRUŠTVA Vae krajevna ali podrejena društva SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPPORNE ZVEZE smejo nadalje obstajati kot pod rejene skupine eli društva SLOVENSKE NARODNE PODPORNI JEDNOTE, razen kjer število članatva pade pod število, katerega predpisujejo pravila SLOVENSKE NARODNE PODPORNE JED-NOTE, in vsi sedanji uradniki društev SLOVENSKE SVOBODO-MISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE ostanejo uradniki svojih društev dokler njih nasledniki niso izvoljeni in kvelificireni, in vsako krajevno društvo SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE, ako tako sklene, sme nadalje poelovati po društvenem obredniku SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE ze dobo dveh let od dne uveljavljenja te pogodbe. Noben Član pa ne more biti hkrati član več kot enega društva m mora v teku 90 dni po uveljavljenju te pogodbe izbrati al svoje društvo; če tega ne atori, mu društvo odredi glavni tajnik po preteku omenjene dobe. IX. FINANČNO POROČILO Obe stranki imata vložiti pri zavarovalnem direktorju države Illinoia finančni račun z dne 31. avgusta, 1941, kateri ime biti potrjen od gl. predsednika, gl. tajnika in gl. blagajnika, in mora izkazovati knjižno vrednost premoženja in prave obveznoeti vsakega sklada, nevključivši rezervo, in overoviti pravilnost in popolnost tega računa. „ X. NEZAPADLJIVE VREDNOSTI Nezapadljive vrednosti članskih certifikatov obeh organizacij ostanejo v polni moči in veljevi tudi zanaprej, in vsi certifikat SLOVENSKE NARODNE PODPORNE JEDNOTC, izdani v mano za certifikate SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE, kot je dovoljeno v ti pogodbi, imajo vsebovat nezapadljive vrednoeti v gotovini, za poeojilo in za druga izbere, ki jednečijo izberem v izročenih certifikatih. XIV. XVI. PREUREDBA GOTOVIH CERTIFIKATOV SLOVENSKA NARODNA PODPORNA JEDNOTA se zaveže dnem 31. decembra, 1941, znižati smrtninske prispevke onim plačujočim članom SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE, ki ao dobroetoječi dne 31. decembra, 1941, in ki so prostovoljno prestopili is originalne National Fraternal Congress smrtninske lestvice in vaeli eedenje American Experience certlfi-kete in eo ee odpovedali rezervnega krecMta, od katerega se niso odpovedali člani, ki niso proetovoijno prestopili, ln kateri omenjeni del rezervnega kredita znaša 13.8% rezerve originelnega certifikata ob času prestopa. Pogojno pa, da ako ja skupna sedanja vrednoat znižanih prispevkov višja kot $75,000, tedaj ima biti zniianje prispevkov sorazmerno s razliko, ki nastaja med pravo aedanjo vrednoetjo in med omenjeno veoto. V dosego tega, in ko je pogodba bila odobrena po gl. odboru obeh organizacij, in ja lata bila predložena direktorju zavarovalnega oddelka države Illinoia in njegovo za-Čaano odobrenje aprejeto, povzeti bodo koraki, da ae zadobi odobritev late od najvišjih zakonodaj obeh organizacij. SLOVENSKA SVOBODOMISELNA PODPORNA ZVEZA Ima sklicati izredno konvencijo svoje najvišja zakonodaja, da odobri all odkloni to pogodbo, s podeljeno pravico delegatom, kl prisostvujejo omenjeni izredni konvenciji, da prisoetvujejo na REDNI KONVENCIJI, ki je omenjene v ti pogodbi kaaneje, in to v alu-čaju, da je ta pogodba odobrena po najvišjih zakonodajlh obeh organizacij. • Iz gospodarskih ozirov in radi pospešitve se namerava obdržati izredno konvencijo SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPOR NE ZVEZE ob istem času v Pittsburghu, Pa., v katerem kraju je določeno obdržavati REDNO KONVENCIJO SLOVENSKE NA RODNE PODPORNE JEDNOTE. , r XVIII. REDNA KONVENCIJA Ako je ta pogodba odobrena na izredni konvenciji SLOVENSKE SVOBODOMISELNE PODPORNE ZVEZE, tedaj redna konven cija SLOVENSKE NARODNE PODPORNE JEDNOTE, kl aa Ima vršiti dne 13. septembra, 1941, kot prvi posel avojega zborovanja odobri ali odkloni to pogodbo. Omenjene konvencija Ima polno moč aprejetl po svoji prevdarnoeti ustavo ln pravile, ln Ima druge ostale pravice, kl so poverjene najvišji zakonodaji SLOVENSKE NA RODNE PODPORNE JEDNOTE, in ima uvaževatl spremembo imena Iz SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT v SLOVENE BENEFIT ASSOCIATION, ali v kako drugo primerno Ime, kl ga sme omenjene konvencija izbrati. Glavni odborniki ln delegati Imajo pravico voliti v vseh zedevsh, kl pridejo pred konvencijo, ln biti Izvoljeni v katerikoli urad SLOVENSKE NARODNE PODPORNE JEDNOTE. Proaleve se je vršile v hladnem ln prijaznem Drenik Parku v Strabanu, Pa. Udeležba je bila ogromna ln precej velik plknlškl praetor je bil natrpan občinatva, ki je prihitelo na to proalavo od blizu in daleč. Seveda zshtevejo te vrete prireditve skrbnih priprav in ogromnega dela, ako se hoče zadovoljiti teleenlm ln duševnim potrebam' tisočerih obiskovalcev. Na čelu prlpravljalnege odbora je bil letos mladi, tods energični Jamee M. Magllch, kl je tudi, tajnik angleško poslujoče federacije za zapadno Pennsylvania jo. Njemu so pomagali ne samo člani Is Strabana, ampak tudi člani lz raznih drugih krajev za-padne Pennsylvania. Ta odbor saalušl priznanja, ker je svojo nalogo tako Imenitno izvršil. Kdor se je že večkrat udeležil prireditev te vrste, bo rad priznal, da nudijo taka masna zbirališča našega ljudatva izredno priliko za ponovna srečevanja, starih znancev in prijateljev. VIII. f THE SUBORDINATE LODGES. fr AU local or subordinate lodges of SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY may continue as subordinate units, known as lodges, of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY, except where the membership of s lodge fslls below the minimum number prescribed by the by-laws of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY, and all present officers of such subordinste lodges of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY shell continue ss officers until their successors shall have been duty elected and qualified, and any subordinate lodge of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY which shall by affirmative action so elect, may continue to use the form of ritualistic work now prescribed for locsl lodges of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY for a period of two years from the effective date of this Agreement. No member can hold membership in more than one loJdge, but must elect a lodge within 90 days from the effective date of this Agreement or he shall be assigned to s lodge by the Supreme Secretary after the expiration of that period. IX. STATEMENT OF CONDITION. The contracting parties shall file with the Director of Insurance of the State 61 Illinois, a statement of condition as of August 31, 1941, certified to by the Supreme President, Supreme Secretary and Supreme Treasurer, showing the book vslue of assets and the actual fund liabilities, excluding the reserves, snd certifying that such statement is true and complete. The non-forfeiture values of membership certificates issued by each contracting society ahall remain in full force and effect and any Slovene National Benefit certificate issued In exchange for any Slovene Progressive Benefit certificate, as elsewhere permitted in this agreement, shall provide cash, lOan and non-forfeiture options corresponding ín kind to those provided in the surrendered certificate. XL . _ SICK, DISABILITY AND OPERATION BENEFITS. Whereas both aocieties herein mentioned have and are providing for aick, disability and operation benefits, and'Whereas certain members of both societies are insured for one or more, of such benefits in both societies, it is understood and agreed that as a result of the merger there ahall be no reduction öf said benefits; for sxsmplc, if s member is insured in each society for $1.00 sick claas, theerétention of sick benefits by aaid member ahall not con-atitute a merger into a $2.00 claaa, but he ahall be entitled to receive the benefits in each claaa aa if insured ft* said benefits twice. The membership (adult and Juvenile) of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY hereby transferred shall be aub-Ject to and ahall be governed by the laws of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY ln force at the effective dste hereof and aa hereafter amended, and the benefit certificates of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY hereby reinsured shall be governed by the laws of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY as the same are In force at the effective date hereof, except aa hereinafter modified, and such laws, of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT 80CIKTY as are not in conflict with the laws of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SO CIKTY Provided, however, that the membership and the benefit certificates shall at all times be subject to and be governed by amendments to the constitution and laws hereafter adopted or enacted by the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY, The officers M the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY shall hsve the seme power to enforce and sdminiater the laws of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY as would the officer* of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY have had had this contract not been entered into. V. REINSTATEMENT. The SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY shall give to each and every member of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENE FIT SOCIETY now under suspension the privilege of reinstating his or he» benefit certificste or certificstes subject to the provisions of this Agreement snd compliance with the Conatitution and Laws of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY VENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SCJCIETY, except as the same may be modified by the provisions contained in Paragraph XVI hereof, and except as same may be changed or modified by the amendment of the by-laws of SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY, and compliance thereafter with the Articles of Association, Constitution and Laws of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENE FIT SOCIETY as now in force or as may be hereafter enacted; it being understood that as of the effective date of this Agreement the members of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SO CIETY become members of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY with equal right to participate in any benevolence provided by the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY. XVI. ADJUSTMENT OF CERTAIN CERTIFICATES. The amount of the monthly rate reduction shall be determined by applying the extra portion waived in the form of an annuity over the remainder of the premium paying period on the present certificate, on a net basis according to the mortality and interest sssumed therein. Provided, however, thst if the total present value of such rate reductions shall be greater than $75,000, the rate reductions shall be decreased by the proportion which the excess besrs to the original total present value. The credit so applied shall not increase the non-forfeiture or other values contained in the present certificates. XVII. SPECIAL CONVENTION. It is contemplated by the contracting parties that this Agreement be effected as soon as practically possible. To that end after the same has been approved by the Supreme Board of the respective aocieties and the same has been submitted to the Director of Insurance of the State of Illinois, and his tentative approval obtained, steps will be taken to secure the approval thereof by the Supreme Legislative Bodies of both societies. The SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY shall call a special convention of its Supreme Legislative Body to consider the approval or rejection of this agreement with power conferred on the delegates attending said special convention to attend the Quadrennial Convention hereinafter mentioned in event said Agreement is approved by the Supreme Legislative Bodies of both Societies. -------------•.....-...................—______ employes of SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY at the same salaries as they are now receiving; provided however, that they ¿tall not be employed if elected as officers of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY, XIII. TRANSFER OF ASSETS. ' . In consideration of the covenants, considerations and agreements by the societies as herein set forth, the said SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY hereby transfers, assigns and seta over to the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY all Its property of every kind and nature, including all of its books, files, correspondence, records, office furniture, cash on hand, mortgages, real estate, bonds or other chattela, choses in sction and possession, of every description, snd sll sums of money belonging to the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY In any fund whstsoever, whether such money Is in the hsnds of the various officers of the subordinate lodges or otherwise, or in the hands of 1U depository or depositories. The duljf qualified officers of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY as well as its Trustees, or Executive Committee shell sdopt such resolutions and execute auch agreemenU, deeds, assignments, conveyances snd other instrumente as may be required to consummate and mske effective the transfer of assets as herein agreed, excepting therefrom property of the subordinate lodges. XIV. AGREEMENTS. The SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY sgrees that all medical examinations, warranties, spplicstions, reinstatements, waivers snd sll other books, papers and documenta pertain ing to the present members of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY and eech and every member thereof, shall become and remain as binding in all respects upon such members and btneficisries. ss If the seme hsd been made in the first instance to and with the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY XV. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS. The only requirements neceaaary to continue in force and effect the membership and benefit certificates of said members of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY shall be the psy ment of such duss snd rates as are now being paid to the SLO- In the interest of economy snd dispatch it is contemplated that the special convention of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY be held at or about the same time at Pittsburgh, Penn., the place heretofore designated as the place for holding the quadrennial convention of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY. XVIII. QUADRENNIAL CONVENTION. The regular Quadrennial Convention of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BBNEFIT SOCIETY to be holden on tfce 13th day of September, 1941, shall, if this Agreement be approved at the Special Convention! of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY, as the first order of business, consider the approval or rejection of this Agreement. In the event this Agreement be approved by the convention, a recess shall be declared with no other business considered until notice of approval or disapproval shall be obtained from the Director Of Insurance of the State of Illinois, and in the event that this merger agreement is approved by the Director of Insurance of the State of Illinois, then the Supreme Officers, the members of the Merger Committee of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY, and the duly elected delegates to the Special Convention oïîhe SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY, the number of such delegates to be the number provided for under a certain resolution adopted at the Tenth Regular Convention of the SLOVENE PROGRESSIVE BENEFIT SOCIETY, held in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 24, 1940, which provides among other things that each lodge numbering one hundred members, shall be entitled to one delegate, lodges numbering 200 members, shall be entitled to two delegates, but no lodge shall have the right to more than two delegates, shall be admitted and shall with the Supreme Officers of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY and the duly elected delegates of same, compose and constitute the convention with like powers and privileges to participate in all business properly before the convention. Said convention shall have full power, in its diacretion to adopt constitution and laws and such other powers as are vested in the Supreme Legislative Body of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY, and shall consider a change in name from the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY to the SLOVENE BENEFIT ASSOCIATION, nr such other name as said convention may select. The officers and delegates ahall have the right to vote on all matters coining before the Convention and to be elected to any offices of the SLOVENE NATIONAL BENEFIT SOCIETY. XIX. EXPENSES OF CONVENTION. — In the event the merger is not approved by the contracting parties and tbe approval thereof obtained from the Director of Insurance of the State of Illinois, each society shall defray its own expenses in connection with its convention and any other expenses esch society may have incurred as a result of the proposed merger. XX. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT. This Agreement shall be in torce and effect upon the adoption hereof by an affirmative vote of two-thirda of the members entitled to vote in the Supreme Legislative and Governing Body of each of the parties hereto, the signing hereof by the proper officers of both parties, snd the spprovsl hereof by the Director bf Insurance of the State of Illinois.
