Božje kraljestvo
Ves svet si želi sreče, vsak človek jo išče, vsi si na različne načine zanjo prizadevamo. Vsak pa si na svoj način predstavlja to srečo, to kraljestvo svojega srca in duha. Eden ga gradi v bogastvu, drugi v moči ali prvenstvu, pa v znanju, ljubezni, dobroti, lepoti. Tako imamo različna kraljestva in različne kralje in kraljice. To so »kraljestva«, merjena po željah, spoz-nanjih ali strasteh človekovega srca.
Kristjani pa se obračamo na Boga in ga prosimo, naj pride k nam njegovo kraljestvo.
To je Kristusovo kraljestvo večje ljubezni, kot je človeška; večje resnice, kot je naša zemeljska; večje dobrote, kot jo zmoremo ljudje iz lastnih sil.
Kralj tega kraljestva je Jezus, učlovečeni božji Sin. Njegovo kraljestvo se je začelo, ko je iz ljubezni do človeka postal eden izmed nas. Polnost kraljevanja pa si je pridobil s svojo daritvijo na križu. To je bil izraz najpopolnejše ljubezni. Njegovo vstajenje od mrtvih pa je največja zmaga. Mnogi vladarji in vojskovodje so premagali sovražnike, jih pokorili in pobili. Jezus pa se je sam dal ubiti, potem pa je sam premagal smrt in se spet pojavil živ, poveličan in neumrljiv. To je zmaga nad smrtjo, ki je nihče drug ni izvojeval.
Kadar smo si kristjani Cerkev predstavljali in gradili preveč po zemeljsko, preveč podobno kraljestvu tega sveta, kraljestvu naših lastnih načrtov in strasti, tedaj so med kristjani nastajale ločitve, razkoli in krive vere.

"Why" is such a little word and yet we use it such a lot. We start questioning at an early age and it becomes the habit of a lifetime. Perhaps the biggest "why" of all is the subject of our first reading today, from the book of Job - "why suffering?" It doesn't take us long to realize that suffering is indiscriminate in its victims. Young, old, rich, poor: it is like a cruel lottery without rhyme or reason.
Job, in his suffering, asks all the questions, and challenges God to give him reasons. Many fine minds, philosophers and theologians, have wrestled with these great questions and found no real answers. The answers lie beyond our reach in this present life.
Gospel Teaching
In the Gospel today there is no attempt to answer the question, "why suffering?" In other passages Jesus emphasizes that it is not the conse-44 | vestnik 2012
quence of sin, refuting this commonly accepted belief among his contemporaries, but more than that he does not say. When confronted with human suffering, he chooses to heal rather than philosophize.
First he heals Simon's mother-in-law of a fever, then at sundown the crowds gather, having heard of his presence; he heals and casts out demons. Among those who came to him there would be some who would ask, "why?", but would be glad to receive his healing touch and go on their way. Jesus goes off into the darkness to find a quiet place to pray and to rest. But his disciples track him down and tell him everyone is looking for him. Now it is time to move on to other towns and villages to proclaim the message there, to heal those who are sick and to cast out demons.
Application
We each have our own demons to taunt and tempt us. We are not possessed, nor do we need exorcism. But each day we face our own weaknesses, and struggle lest they take possession of us completely. Probably the greatest temptation of all is disillusionment, even despair, when we are confronted with suffering in our own life or in the

life of one we love. It cannot be rationalized or explained away; it cannot be settled like a bad debt; it remains and challenges whatever faith we have in God and God's goodness.
Jesus experienced personal suffering and pain in his passion and cried out, asking why God had abandoned him. There will be times when we will feel that God has abandoned us and we will cry out. Yet, strangely, these are the times when we can know the love of God most of all: in our weakness and our fragility.
The caring professions are an incarnation of God's compassion. It is here that men and women, dedicated medical professionals, face the big questions of life and death, of suffering and healing, and the constant searching for answers. They know that, even with their extraordinary skills, they will not always succeed, and they will ask, "why?" It is good to keep these wonderful men and women in our prayers.
This week, on 11 February, we will keep the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. It is also the World Day of Prayer for the Sick. In 1858, Our Lady appeared to the young Bernadette and said that Lourdes, then just a small village in the south of France, would be a place of healing and prayer. Since then, a number of miraculous cures, medically substantiated, have occurred. People who are broken and troubled leave there comforted and strengthened, better able to live with the trials that sickness has placed upon them. This is the power of prayer. It is a reality that confounds and perplexes the unbeliever. It defies rational explanation and cannot be explained by delusion or hysteria, because it endures. Those who have lost faith find it again, the despairing are given new hope. The proud are humbled and the lowly are exalted.
Prayer is not a palliative for the feebleminded. It is the language of loving trust in the God who has care of us. It is surprising how fearful and
diffident we often are in our prayers, in spite of our outward show of self-assurance and sophistication. We are inclined to reveal in prayer only what we feel comfortable in sharing. Yet God knows everything, even our hateful fantasies, our pettiness, our meanness. We can open up that darker side of ourselves to God, and subject it to the healing light of grace. Then the healing power of God can bring peace into our lives.

We invite parish members, their families and friends to attend our Annual Parish Bazaar, Sunday March 4. This event is a wonderful opportunity for families of our parish to come out and enjoy one another's company.
Lunch tickets: will be sold after 9:30 mass and before 11:00 mass. Adult $12/ Child 4-10 $5/ 3 and under free. Please understand that reservations can only be made for pre-paid tickets to avoid major confusion and disappointment the day of the bazaar. Lunch tickets at the door will be $15 for an adult in an effort to encourage pre payment so we can properly prepare.
In preparation for our Bazaar we look to all our members to help us in whatever way they can and for support from our parish family. This bazaar is a tradition where everyone can participate in some way as a parish community.
We are kindly asking for donations of new items for our penny sale tables and your wonderful home baked goods.

V	nedeljo, 26. februarja ob treh popoldne imamo v naši dvorani LETNI OBČNI ZBOR župnije sv. Gregorija Velikega. Rezervirajte si ta čas in pridite, da skupaj pregledamo delo preteklega leta in naredimo nove na č rte za prihodnost. Ne računajte, da bodo to že drugi naredili.
Obenem iščemo nove člane za Župnijski svet, da se nam pridružijo. Le s skupnimi močni in širokim sodelovanjem bomo lahko uspešno peljali naše župnijske dejavnosti in ohranjali slovenske korenine na tem področju Kanade.

V	nedeljo, 29. januarja 2012 je odšla h Gospodu po večno plačilo naša faranka ANTONIJA (TONČKA) DEMŠAR. V četrtek zvečer smo v Markey-Dermody Funeral home za pokoj njene duše umolili rožni venec . Pogrebna sveta maša je bila v petek, 3. februarja ob desetih dopoldne. Da je bila zelo poznana se je videlo tudi iz obiska pri sveti maši, saj so sorodniki, farani in prijatelji napolnili cerkev. Ženski zbor je vodil petje pri maši, g. Anton Rozmarič je spremljal na orglah, domači pa so sodelovali z branjem. Pokojno smo po maši pospremili na slovenski del pokopališča Gate of Heaven k večnemu počitku. V imenu župnijske sv. Gregorija Velikega bi se rad zahvalil za vse delo in skrb za župnijsko skupnost in sodelovanje pri Katoliški ženski zvezi in Slomškovemu oltarnemu društvu.
Iskreno sožalje možu Janku in vsem domačim. Pokojna Tončka pa naj uživa zasluženi mir in večni pokoj. Naj ji bo Gospod bogat plačnik.
