Dar nove zapovedi: zakon karitativne ljubezni
Ljubiti drug drugega je zapoved, ki nam je dana od Kristusa in nas ne samo nagovarja k delom ljubezni ampak tudi vabi, da to ljubezen živimo v vsakdanjem življenju. Na žalost ima beseda ljubezen v vsakdanji govorici preveč čustveno vsebino. V evangeliju je beseda ljubezen povezana s križem in darovanjem za druge. Ko Jezus pravi, da "nas ljubi", je križ že vključen. S tem nam da jasno vedeti, da se čista in iskrena ljubezen svobodno daruje za druge.
Kristus razodeva svojo ljubezen s trpljenjem in smrtjo na križu, še prej pa je to ljubezen praktično izkazal z umivanjem nog apostolom in ustanovitvijo zakramenta Evharistije.
Ko evangelist govori o "zapovedi", beseda v prvi vrsti razodeva ljubezen Boga Očeta. Beseda v grščini pomeni recept, navodilo. Podobno kot zdravnik, ki ti predpiše zdravila, ki bodo pozdravila tvojo bolezen. Sedaj je na pacientu ali se bo tega recepta držal ali ne. V tem slučaju zapoved ni nekaj kar moraš storiti ampak je povabilo. Ne pomeni samo slepo slediti nekemu predpisu - četudi je dober. Bog nam daje vodilo, navodilo, recept, nas želi vzeti in povabiti na pot, ki nas bo privedla do zveličanja.
Jezus nas torej s to besedo »zapovedi« vabi k poslanstvu in kliče k odgovornosti - torej imamo novo poslanstvo. In Jezus nato nadaljuje, da bo svet videl in spoznal, da smo njegovi učenci. Svet bo videl, da je evangelij živ in dejaven, če si bomo bratje in sestre v odnosu do drug drugega. Čudež prvega stoletja krščanskega življenja je bil povzet v besedah Tertuliana ki je zapisal, da so bili pogani začudeni in prevzeti nad odnosti med kristjani: "Poglejte, kako imajo radi drug drugega; poglejte kako velika ljubezen je med njimi!"
Zapoved ljubezni je »nova« kvantitativno a še veliko bolj kvalitativno. Zapoved je nova kakor je tudi Jezus nov. On je novi Mojzes, ki piše nov zakon ljubezni ne na kamnite table, pač pa v naša srca.
CWL sends out Congratulations and Thanks!_
On Friday April 26, we celebrated Our Lady of Good Counsel's feast day with a beautiful and memorable mass. We welcomed new members to our CWL organization - Nancy Dundek, Stefanie Eržen, Josephine Šušteršič, Ana Doma and Aranka Dundek. We also celebrated 10 years of service for Anne Saje and 25 years of service for Angela Antolin. Congratulations to all of you for your commitment to the CWL mission. We would also like to extend a special thank you to everyone who participated and worked to prepare such a beautiful mass and reception. Our CWL is fortunate to have such wonderful supporters within our Parish.
A quick reminder that our meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month. May's meeting will be Wednesday, May 1st after evening mass.
CATHOLIC GIRL'S CLUB - MEETING
MESEC MAJ - ŠMARNICE
The Catholic Girl's Club will have their meeting on Friday, May 3rd after 7:00pm mass. Meetings are always scheduled on the first Friday of the month and all girls 10 to 16 years old are VERY WELCOME to attend. Jožica in Gizela sta te dni poskebele, da bo kipa Marije Pomočnice tudi letos krasile cvetoče rože.
Ta teden bomo začeli Marijin mesec maj, ali šmarnični mesec. Slovenci imamo dolgo tradicijo, da se za ta mesec zbiramo k šmarnični pobožnosti in s tem želimo še posebej izkazati ljubezen do Božje Matere Marije. Tudi v naši cerkvi vsako leto med sveto mašo beremo del šmarničnega branja.
Knjiga za šmarnično branje ima naslov »Iskalci božjega kraljestva«, ki jo je pripravila Urška Smerkolj. Šmarnice želijo konkretizirati pojem Božjega krealjestva ob evangeljskih likih.
Obrtniški moški pevski zbor Šmarje pri Jelšah bo gostoval v naši župnijski cerkvi v soboto 4. maja 2013. Pel bo med večerno sveto mašo /ob 5:30/, po maši pa bodo dodali še kakšno pesem iz svojega bogatega repertoarja.
V mesecu maju bomo imeli še enega glasbenega gosta.LUKA DEBEVEC-MAJER iz Argentine, ki je bil na gotovanju pri nas pred dvema letoma na spomladanskem banketu. Kanadski slovenski kongres ga je za 11. maja povabil na Brown's Line. Pri nas bo nastopil v soboto, 18. maja 2013 pri večerni maši; po maši pa nam bo zapel še kakšno primerno. Vabljeni!

Without warning, in her fifties, Jane was struck down with viral encephalitis - a vicious virus that attacks the brain and can permanently scar it. As she was rushed to hospital, Jane was so disoriented that she couldn't even remember the names of her own children. Fortunately, she responded well to treatment, and although she still has gaps in her memory, she was able to return to work and get on with her life. But every now and again, she becomes aware of those gaps. She may visit somewhere - a local beauty spot, a familiar landmark, an old church - places that should be very familiar, but she sees them as if for the very first time. Her response at such times is to stop and stare and drink it all in - seeing these marvels through fresh eyes.
Something of that freshness and newness is expressed in T.S. Eliot's poem Little Gidding: "We shall not cease from exploration / And the end of all our exploring / Will be to arrive where we started / And know the place for the first time."
Those lines capture our common experience that sometimes you have to leave a place, a relationship, a way of life, in order to return to it and truly recognise it for the precious thing it is.
Gospel Teaching
There is that same sense of rediscovering something very familiar in today's readings. John, in his Apocalypse, describes the end of time as the creation of a new heaven and a new earth, with a new Jerusalem at its centre. And the chief characteristic of this new city is the restoration of the original blessing that humankind experienced at the outset: "Here God lives among men. He will make his home among them... his name is 'God-with-them.'" That is exactly the vision of paradise that is so beautifully described in the book of Genesis, which tells us of God "walking in the garden [of Eden] in the cool of the day", seeking out Adam and Eve, so that he might talk with them. The paradise that was lost is the same heaven we journey towards. Heaven means quite simply to live in the presence of the living God, to enjoy God's friendship, to be at one with God.
"Now I am making the whole of creation new," God declares. The story of God's creative activity is ongoing, the narrative of the history of our salvation is still unfolding. But for us to be able to return to what we once had, to "arrive where we started", to reach that intimate friendship with God, involves a journey for each of us in the footsteps of Jesus. He is the intrepid explorer we follow, and his path leads us into the very heart of God, who is love. "Love one another," Jesus tells us. And the pathway of love along which he invites us is of a very particular kind: we are to love "as I have loved you". That love is cross-shaped and is found in the Master who kneels down to wash the feet of his friends.
Application
Our journey to the new heaven and the new earth, to living in the presence of God, is a journey into transformation and re-creation. It involves a daily dying to self - a taking up of the cross - and is expressed in a life of service. Why? Quite simply, because this is the Christ-shaped love that is at the heart of who God is.
It is as we grow in discipleship of Christ that we grow into the presence of God. The vision of the new heaven and the new earth, the longing to live in the presence of God, where "there will be no more death, and no more mourning or sadness", is not just a hope for the end of time, but a reality to be experienced here and now. It is by living as disciples of Jesus, through the love we have for one another, that we can see - with fresh eyes, as if for the first time - that God is with us, and that God even now walks in the cool of the day in the garden of our lives. By our willingness to explore the ways of Christ, by self-sacrificial love and humble service, we come to experience the power of love to transform the reality of our daily lives, making of us a new creation, a holy city where God lives among the men and women of our day.

MOTHER'S DAY - Hamilton-Wentworth Slovenian Cultural Society of St. Gregory The Great cordially invites everyone to celebrate its annual Mother's Day with them on Sunday, May 12th. SLOVENIAN CANADIAN SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION_
The Slovenian Canadian Scholarship Foundation invites you to participate in their 25th Annual Golf Tournament which will be held Saturday, May 25th at Rockway Glen Golf course in Vineland followed by the banquet at BLED, Beamsville.

VEČNA LUČ_
V mesecu maju bo večna luč gorela po namenu Francke Cestnik in družine za vse pokojne sorodnike.
PRVI PETEK IN SOBOTA_
Ta teden bomo stopili v Marijin mesec maj. Na prvi petek bom obiskoval bolnike, zvečer bo ob šestih prilika za prejem zakramenta svete spovedi in molitev pred izpostavljenim sv. Rešnjim Telesom.
DAROVI_
Za gradbeni sklad so darovali: $50 daruje N.N., $100 Angela in Štefan Dundek; $100 Teresa Pučko z družino v spomin na pokojnega Franka Gimpelj. Hvala vsem za vaše darove. Bog vam povrni.
PRAZNIK PRVEGA SV. OBHAJI LA
V naši župniji imamo prvo sveto obhajilo že dolga leta na zadnjo nedeljo v mesecu maju. Na ta dan bo nekaj naših otrok prvič prejelo Jezusa v svoja srca. Da bi lahko vsi doživljali lepoto tega praznika bomo imeli samo eno sveto mašo in sicer ob 10:00h dopoldne. Začeli bomo, če bo vreme dopuščalo, pri kipu Marije pomočnice nato nadaljevali s sveto mašo v cerkvi. Prvoobhajanci bodo imeli v mesecu maju neposredno pripravo na praznik, v soboto 25. maja dopoldne pa bodo pristopili tudi k zakramentu svete spovedi.
POKOJNI_
24. aprila je v Dolu pri Ljubljani umrla MINKA STOPAR, sestra naše faranke Martine Kolar. Pokojna je bila stara 82 let. Pogreb je bil v soboto 27. aprila v Dolu pri Ljubljani. Iskreno sožalje
Martini in sorodnikom, pokojni Minki pa naj Gospod poplača v venimi darovi.
Na praznik sv. Marka, 25. aprila je v starostnem domu Clarion umrla sestra neš faranke Slave Gomboša, MARIJA PUSCHER. Pokojna je bila v 73. letu starosti. Pogreb pokojne bo v torek, 7. maja ob 10h dopoldne. Pogreb bo z žaro. Iskreno sožalje Slavi in vsem domačim, pokojni Mariji pa večni mir in pokoj.
