The question makes sense because tragedy and philosophy overlap thematically in important respects, but the way in which they address their audiences is different: philosophy teaches directly, and tragedy teaches indirectly through the theatrical presentation of mythical stories that are relevant for understanding the world in an interpretive community or society. In tragic works, it is possible to reconstruct the implicit philosophy of tragedy: at its core is the recognition of the limitations of human knowledge and human life. This recognition is at the same time the recognition of an ultimate anthropological horizon, which is revealed in each tragic work in a particular way. Mythical stories are articulations of this profound horizon, inseparable from its unknowable background, but sometimes unreliable. Two examples from Euripides’ plays (The Trojans, Helen) are discussed in more detail, where it is shown that the poet is more concerned with critical theology than with the rationalist deconstruction of myth. Tragic insight is experiential and therefore inevitably individual, which is highlighted by examples from Sophocles; it can originate in the inner life of the characters even as it relates to the external world, which shows the complex structure of reality (examples from Aeschylus); and it always comes as a surprise (examples from Euripides)"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Izhodišče te razprave je vprašanje, ali je grška tragedija lahko relevantna za etično prakso oziroma način življenja, v čemer je Pierre Hadot videl integralni element antične filozofije. Vprašanje je smiselno, ker se tragedija in filozofija v tematskem oziru v pomembnem delu prekrivata, način, na katerega se obračata k svojemu občinstvu, pa je drugačen: filozofija uči neposredno, tragedija pa posredno preko gledališkega prikaza mitičnih zgodb, ki so relevantne za razumevanje sveta v neki interpretativni skupnosti oziroma družbi. V tragiških delih je mogoče rekonstruirati implicitno filozofijo tragedije: v njenem jedru je spoznanje omejenosti človeškega spoznanja in človeškega življenja. To spoznanje je obenem prepoznanje ultimativnega antropološkega obzorja, ki se razkrije v vsakem tragiškem delu na poseben način. Mitične zgodbe so artikulacije tega globokega obzorja, neločjivo povezane z njegovim nespoznavnim ozadjem, a včasih nezanesljive. Nadrobneje sta obravnavana dva primera iz Evripidove dramatike (Trojanke, Helena), kjer se pokaže, da gre pesniku prej za kritično teologijo kot za racionalistično dekonstrukcijo mita. Tragiško spoznanje je izkustveno in zato neizbežno individualno, kar je osvetljeno s primeri iz Sofokla; izvira lahko iz notranjega življenja likov, čeprav se nanaša na zunanji svet, kar kaže na zapleteno zgradbo resničnosti (primeri iz Ajshila); in vselej prihaja kot presenečenje (primeri iz Evripida)"}],"edm:type":"TEXT","dc:type":[{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"znanstveno časopisje"},{"@xml:lang":"en","#text":"journals"},{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785"}]},"ore:Aggregation":{"@rdf:about":"http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-ZDB0JYLF","edm:aggregatedCHO":{"@rdf:resource":"URN:NBN:SI:doc-ZDB0JYLF"},"edm:isShownBy":{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-ZDB0JYLF/a1b6f725-53f3-496b-a704-a8f2b1b14501/PDF"},"edm:rights":{"@rdf:resource":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"},"edm:provider":"Slovenian National E-content Aggregator","edm:intermediateProvider":{"@xml:lang":"en","#text":"National and University Library of Slovenia"},"edm:dataProvider":{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Založba Univerze v Ljubljani"},"edm:object":{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-ZDB0JYLF/maxi/edm"},"edm:isShownAt":{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-ZDB0JYLF"}}}}
