World Health Organisation (WHO) provided SARS case definition for the purpose of epidemiological surveillance. WHO regularly supplied information about preventive measures for the disease containment on the Internet. The causativevirus was soon discovered and named SARS-CoV. Prompt identification and isolation of suspected SARS cases is crucial to prevent the disease spread. Health care providers must use protective equipment whenever in contact with a SARS patient. Epidemiologists have to find all people who had close contacts with a SARS-affected individual, and advise them appropriately"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Sindrom akutnega oteženega dihanja se je pojavil proti koncu leta 2002 na Kitajskem in se razširil po jugovzhodni Aziji in Kanadi. Svetovna zdravstvena organizacija (SZO) je pripravila definicijo za epidemiološko spremljanje. SZO je na spletnih straneh objavljala ukrepe za omejitev širjenja bolezni. Povzročitelj SARS-a je bil kmalu odkrit, imenujemo ga SARS-CoV. Ključna za omejitev širjenja je takojšnja prepoznava bolnika s sumom na SARS, ki ga je potrebno osamiti. Ob stiku z bolnikom mora zdravstveno osebje strogo uporabljati zaščitno opremo.
