It is well known that cracks in reinforced concrete structures have a significant influence on their displacements, while the distribution, number and width of cracks have an important influence on their durability. It is often claimed that cracks significantly affect the stiffness of reinforced concrete beams. This article presents a new family of strain-based finite elements for analyzing the effects of cracks on the stiffness of reinforced concrete beams. Two advantages of the presented numerical model can be mentioned: (i) the model takes into account the slip between reinforcing bars and concrete, and (ii) the transverse cracks in the reinforced concrete beam are treated discretely in the model, while their position in the finite element during the analysis is arbitrary and does not need to be known in advance, as in other models. This means that the finite element mesh in the presented numerical model does not need to be adjusted to the location of the cracks along the axis of the reinforced concrete beam. A comparison between the experimental and numerical results of the studied simply supported reinforced concrete beam showed that the presented model can be used to determine the load-displacement curve as well as the distribution, number and width of cracks very well. Therefore, the presented numerical model is suitable to analyze the influence of cracks in concrete on the stiffness of reinforced concrete beams"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Zaradi majhne natezne nosilnosti betona armiranobetonske konstrukcije razpokajo že pri nizkem nivoju zunanje obtežbe. Dobro je znano, da razpoke v betonskem delu armiranobetonskih nosilcev bistveno vplivajo na velikosti pomikov le-teh, medtem ko razporeditev, število in širina razpok odločilno vplivajo na njihovo trajnost. Pogosto pravimo, da razpoke bistveno vplivajo na togost armiranobetonskih nosilcev. V članku predstavimo novo družino deformacijskih končnih elementov za analizo vpliva razpok na togost armiranobetonskih nosilcev. Prednosti predstavljenega numeričnega modela sta dve: (i) model omogoča upoštevati tudi vplive zdrsov med armaturnimi palicami in betonom in (ii) prečne razpoke armiranobetonskega nosilca so v modelu obravnavane diskretno, pri tem pa so med analizo njihove lege vzdolž osi nosilca oziroma vzdolž končnega elementa poljubne in jih ni treba, kot pri drugih modelih, poznati vnaprej. To pomeni, da mreže končnih elementov v predstavljenem numeričnem modelu ni treba prilagoditi legam razpok vzdolž osi armiranobetonskega nosilca. Primerjava med eksperimentalnimi in numeričnimi rezultati analiz na prostoležečem armiranobetonskem nosilcu je pokazala, da s predstavljenim modelom zelo dobro določimo njegovo obtežno deformacijsko krivuljo kot tudi razporeditev, število in širino razpok.
