Originally discovered in Macaca nemestrina monkeys, they were later also located in the human brain, specifically in the inferior frontal gyrus, dorsal premotor cortex, inferior parietal lobules, and in the cerebellum. Based on their location, it is inferred that their function is associated with the development of language, learning, imitation of emotions, and movements. Since the symptoms of autism spectrum disorder include language development disorders, difficulty understanding emotions, and repetitive motor movements, research on the neurological characteristics of autism also deals with the correlation between its symptoms and the activity of the mirror neuron system. Modern research includes functional magnetic resonance imaging and electroencephalography in addition to behavioral observation, and has discovered a positive correlation between altered mirror neuron activity and symptoms of autism. The aim of this review is to encompass both fundamental and contemporary findings on mirror neurons in autism and to identify possibilities for further research</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Zrcalni nevroni so nevroni, ki sprožijo akcijski potencial tako med opravljanjem dejanja kot med opazovanjem enakega ali podobnega dejanja. Namen tega preglednega članka je zaobjeti tako temeljne kot novejše ugotovitve o zrcalnih nevronih pri avtizmu in opredeliti možnosti za nadaljnje raziskave</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYXF3OVV"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYXF3OVV" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYXF3OVV/90e9b173-05e3-4d98-96a0-d2c1d3a09015/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Društvo Medicinski razgledi</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYXF3OVV/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYXF3OVV" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
