They strongly affect individuals and society as a whole. On one hand, these conditions increase psychosomatic illnesses and chronic fatigue, which lead to a reduction in productivity; on the other hand, chronic stress is also a bad news for the quality of interpersonal relations, because it can weaken the adaptive abilities and readiness to resolve conflicts. However, the good news from researches in this area is that stress is not something that itself should be detrimental or unmanageable. How do we cope with it depends on many bio-psycho-social factors. Psychological science offers some answers on the topic how to strengthen those internal factors that can make it easier to cope with stressful situations, and how to make up for deficits which lead us to less successful solutions for reducing the tension caused by stress. This article presents some theoretical starting points in terms of combining the development of personality, its strength and structure on one hand, and the capacity to cope with stressful situations on the other. In the final section we present some possibilities for increasing personal strength and reducing the risk for the development of psychopathological symptomatology. The focus is also on providing so-called good-enough conditions in the primary development of personality, as well as the possibility of reparation or overcoming of primary developmental personal deficits. These evidence-based findings constitute an important part of complex rehabilitation after various serious losses and long-term elevated stress in the process of treatment, and are an important base of coping with less favorable living situations. Psychological treatment must ensure proper identification of personal resources and their use in the process of coping with stressful situations, thus offering a possibility of correction through a positive experience in the process of psychotherapeutic relationship</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Tempo življenja je postal v poindustrijskih družbah zelo hiter in povezan s kroničnimi stresnimi stanji, ki bremenijo posameznika in družbo kot celoto. Zlasti psihološka obravnava mora zagotoviti ustrezno prepoznavanje osebnostnih resursov in njihovo uporabo v procesu soočanja s stresnimi situacijami ter morebitno korekcijo skozi ugodno izkušnjo procesnega psihoterapevtskega odnosa</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYCWCZ9O"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYCWCZ9O" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYCWCZ9O/75ae50d2-7deb-4f6b-847e-c0e88ba4d0ad/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerzitetni rehabilitacijski inštitut RS – Soča</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYCWCZ9O/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-YYCWCZ9O" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
