For this, we need a certain level of knowledge about curriculum and curricular planning taht usually moves well beyond the individual subject areas of higher education teachers. The article gives a brief overview of the general literature on the curriculum, from a definition of this central notion to the historical development of the contents, goals and methods of education, along with contemporary trends in curricular theory. This is followed by a presentation of the principal findings about planning as the key curricular process, where different paradigm-depending possibilities are also shown. There is a special presentation of the analysis of needs as the starting pointfor contemporary curricular planning, which is also recommended and imposed by the Bologna documents. In light of the theoretical overview presented, the conclusion contemplates the placement of the Bologna reform within previously presented curricular models and the optimal approach to reform by means of the curricular knowledge of the holders of Slovenian higher education programmes"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek izhaja iz prepričanja, da je bolonjska reforma priložnost za dvig kakovosti v slovenskem visokem šolstvu, vendar samo, če jo razumemo v širšem kontekstu ter kritično udejanjamo. Za to pa potrebujemo določeno mero znanja okurikulumu in kurikularnem načrtovanju, ki ponavadi precej presega posamezna predmetna področja visokošolskih učiteljev. V članku je podan kratek pregled splošne literature o kurikulumu od same definicije tega osrednjega pojma do zgodovinskega razvoja vsebin, ciljev in metod izobraževanja ter sodobnih trendov kurikularne teorije. Sledi predstavitev poglavitnih spoznanj o načrtovanju kot ključnem kurikularnem procesu, kjer se prav tako kažejo različne paradigmatsko pogojene možnosti. Posebej je predstavljena še analiza potreb kot izhodišče sodobnega kurikularnega načrtovanja, ki ga priporočajo innalagajo tudi bolonjski dokumenti.
