The article maps uses and functions of visual tweets and exposes the centrality of the image in contemporary political communication as the number of visual tweets surpasses that of textual tweets during the campaign. The candidates mainly use the platform for one way broadcasting of information and horizontal strengthening of communication with other political actors. Visual tweets are most frequently used to provide campaign updates and to aid the construction of candidate's policy positions. In the process, the photographs appear mostly as mere visual documents, a function supported by their textual subtitles. Analysis also focuses on the mediatisation of political communication, which is most clearly visible in adoption of media logic through the narration format of personalisation. This visual personalisation is a multilayered phenomenon, it is not linked only to the publishing of personal and private content but derives the personalisation effect from the very style of visual communication that is adopted the snapshot aesthetics of family and tourist photography</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Prispevek analizira razvijajočo se vernakularno (slovensko) politično vizualno kulturo medijatizirane politike na primeru uporabe družbenega omrežja Twitter med predvolilno kampanjo za volitve v Evropski parlament leta 2014. Analiza mapira načine vizualnega komuniciranja na Twitterju in nakazuje pomembno vlogo podobe v sodobnem političnem komuniciranju, saj so vizualni tviti med predvolilno kampanjo številčno presegli besedilne tvite.
