The use of such sheet has many advantages in automobile industry, while equal strenght of sheet could be obtained at lower sheet thickness. This results in a lower amount of material needed as well as lower weight of parts. However, we need considerably higher press for forming of such steel sheets in comparison with conventional ones resulting in a higher wear of the tools. Therefore new wear-resistant coatings with high hardness, and toughness are necessary. Low friction is beneficial in most forming operations. This paper reviews in recent development in the field of protection of forming tools"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V zadnjih letih so bile razvite nove vrste jeklene pločevine, ki imajo veliko natezno trdnost (nrp. dualphase steel, TRIP-steel, complex phase steel ali martensite steel). Uporaba takšne pločevine v avtomobilski industriji prinaša vrsto prednosti, saj dosežemo enako trdnost izdelka pri precej manjši debelini pločevine. To pa pomeni ne samo manjšo porabo materiala, ampak tudi precejšnje zmanjšanje mase izdelka v primerjavi s tistim, ki ga naredimo iz konvencionalne pločevine. Seveda pa so za preoblikovanje takšne pločevine potrebni veliko večji tlaki, ki predstavljajo večjo obremenitev za orodje. Za zaščito orodij potrebujemo zato čim bolj trde in žilave trde prevleke.
