This paper deals with heat distribution during the grinding of a VT9 titanium alloy and its relationship to the quality of ground parts in terms of residual stresses. The analysis of the heat distribution is based on a measurement of the temperature in the contact of the grinding wheel and workpiece, and the tangential component of the cutting force. The heat distribution when grinding a VT9 titanium alloy differs from the heat distribution when grinding a conventional (14 209.4) roll-bearing steel (a typical representative of ground-hardened steels) mainly because of the low heat conductivity of titanium alloys. Also the application of CBN and diamond grinding wheels significantly reduces the thermal exposition of the ground parts, primarly when applying cutting fluid. This fact significantly influences the residual stresses after grinding. The results of the analysis show that there is a strong correlation between energy partioning and residual stresses</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Porazdelitev toplote pri strojni obdelavi je ena od femenoloških značilnosti tega postopka, ker pomembno vpliva na funkcionalne lastnosti obdelanih površin. Prispevek obravnava porazdelitev toplote pri brušenju titanove zlitine VT9 in njeno razmerje do kakovosti brušenih delov, ki jo predstavljajo zaostale napetosti. Rezultati analize kažejo, da obstaja močna povezava med porazdelitvijo energije in zaostalimi napetostmi</dc:description><edm:type>TEXT</edm:type><dc:type xml:lang="sl">znanstveno časopisje</dc:type><dc:type xml:lang="en">journals</dc:type><dc:type rdf:resource="http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785" /></edm:ProvidedCHO><ore:Aggregation rdf:about="http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-Y7RTA6Y3"><edm:aggregatedCHO rdf:resource="URN:NBN:SI:doc-Y7RTA6Y3" /><edm:isShownBy rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-Y7RTA6Y3/66002d26-bed1-4d59-8319-60a4d65aec53/PDF" /><edm:rights rdf:resource="http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/" /><edm:provider>Slovenian National E-content Aggregator</edm:provider><edm:intermediateProvider xml:lang="en">National and University Library of Slovenia</edm:intermediateProvider><edm:dataProvider xml:lang="sl">Univerza v Ljubljani, Fakulteta za strojništvo</edm:dataProvider><edm:object rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-Y7RTA6Y3/maxi/edm" /><edm:isShownAt rdf:resource="http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-Y7RTA6Y3" /></ore:Aggregation></rdf:RDF>
