As a response to the needs of the information society, libraries develop new Collecting library statistics already has a long tradition in Slovenia and is presently carried out by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia and by the National Centre for Library Development at the National and University Library, which is also responsible for the content of statistical questionnaires. The questionnaires are based on UNESCO statistical questionnaires and ISO standards while in the last decade there have been some changes due to the requirements of the LIBECON project. The third edition of the standard ISO 2789 : 2003 has defined new measures which are needed to perform statistical research of library activities in the digital environment. In order to preserve international comparability of statistical data it is necessary to implement the novelties of the ISO standard in the national statistics. However, there are at least three problems: how to preserve comparability of the data with previous statistics, how to collect them and how to educate librarians to report the relevant data"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V članku je opisan način izvajanja statističnih meritev dejavnosti knjižnic v Sloveniji ter nekateri problemi, ki se pojavljajo ob implementaciji nove izdaje standarda ISO 2789. Oboje je predstavljeno s stališča knjižničarja in praktika, ki izvaja statistične meritve na državnem nivoju. Statistične meritve dejavnosti slovenskih knjižnic, ki imajo že dolgo tradicijo, redno izvajata Narodna in univerzitetna knjižnica in Statistični urad Republike Slovenije. Vsebino statističnih vprašalnikov določa Državna matična služba za knjižničarstvo pri Narodni in univerzitetni knjižnici. Vprašalniki so oblikovani na osnovi Unescovih statističnih vprašalnikov in mednarodnih standardov ISO, v zadnjem desetletju pa so se prilagajali predvsem meritvam, ki so se izvajale v okviru evropskega projekta za poenotenje knjižnične statistike LIBECON. Da bi lahko spremljali prilagajanje knjižnic potrebam informacijske družbe, je potrebno meriti in spremljati nove dejavnosti, ki jih razvijajo knjižnice. Novostim se zato prilagajajo tudi standardi ISO. Tretja izdaja standarda za knjižnično statistiko ISO 2789 iz leta 2003 je prinesla dopolnitve predvsem pri meritvah dejavnosti knjižnic v elektronskem okolju.
