Pri starejših je artroza najpogostejši vzrok za zmanjšane zmožnosti, vključno z bolečino in omejitvami pri dejavnostih in sodelovanju. Natančen vzrok za nastanek artroze ni znan, poznamo pa številne dejavnike tveganja.
