The majority of roundwood from the forest is used for further processing in the wood processing industry, while aquarter of low quality roundwood is used for energy purposes, mainly for domestic heating. Traditional form of wood fuels in Slovenia is firewood, in recent years wood chips and wood pellets are becoming more popular. Production of wood biomass in Slovenia is diverse, numerous and fragmented at the same time. The market for wood fuels in Slovenia has already well developed during thelast period. In this article we will describe in more detail wood chips production in Slovenia. Slovenian Forestry Institute published a Catalogue of forestry companies and biomass producers in the frame of international project Biomass Trade Centre 2.With catalogue we wish to contribute to promotion of wood biomass producers and increase the organization of the market, which will also lead to increased customer confidence in heating with wood biomass as a renewable and domestic source of energy. As part of producing the cataloguewe also performed survey among owners of the machines about wood biomass production, results of this survey are presented below"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Les je kot domač, obnovljiv in cenovno ugoden energent z višanjem cen fosilnih goriv zopet pridobil na pomenu. Večina okroglega lesa iz gozdov je namenjena nadaljnji predelavi v lesnopredelovalni industriji, medtem ko se dobra četrtina okroglega lesa slabše kakovosti uporablja v energetske namene, predvsem za ogrevanje stanovanj. V Sloveniji so tradicionalna oblika lesnih goriv drva, v zadnjih desetih letih pa se vse bolj uveljavljajo tudi lesni sekanci in peleti. Proizvodnja lesne biomase v Sloveniji je pestra, številna in hkrati razdrobljena. V zadnjih letih se je trg z lesnimi gorivi hitro razvijal. V prispevku bomo predstavili stanje proizvodnje sekancev v Sloveniji. Na Gozdarskem inštitutu Slovenije smo v sklopu mednarodnega projekta BiomassTrade Centre 2marca letos izdali Katalog proizvajalcev polen in sekancev v Sloveniji, s katerim želimo prispevati k promociji proizvajalcev lesne biomase in k večji prepoznavnostitrga. Tako želimo povečati zaupanje v ogrevanje z lesno biomaso.
