In the course of the battles, which became collectively known as the Battle of Galicia, the Austro-Hungarian armies achieved victories at Kraśnik and Komarów, but were severely defeated at Gnila Lipa and in September at Rawa-Ruska. Based on the analysis of primary and a variety of secondary sources from the Slovenian archives and the Vienna War Archives, and supported by relevant scholarly works, the author explores the reasons behind the Austro-Hungarian military defeat through the case study of the military operations of the Graz's III Corps and Slovenian soldiers"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Prispevek obravnava vojaško analizo uvodnih spopadov med Avstro-Ogrsko in Ruskim imperijem na vzhodni fronti v prvi svetovni vojni. V bitki za Galicijo, kot je bila poimenovana serija velikih spopadov med tema velesilama v avgustu in septembru leta 1914, sta na strani Avstro-Ogrske sodelovala tudi notranjeavstrijski III. korpus in budimpeštanski V., pod povelje katerih je bilo mobiliziranih vsaj 30.000 Slovencev.
