The proposal is in a lot of ways similar to the regulation in the banking field, which was established with the Bank Recovery and Resolution Directive (BRRD). The newly proposed recovery and resolution directive will introduce a lot of additional obligations for the industry and for the regulators on the European and, consequently, on the Slovenian insurance market. The In cooperation with the regulators, insurance companies will have to prepare and annually update their recovery plans. It is also assumed that a new resolution authority will be formed, which will be responsible for preparing resolution plans for insurance and reinsurance undertakings and taking necessary action if insurance companies get into financial difficultiesZ namenom poenotenja pravil Evropske unije oziroma izognitve nadaljnji fragmentaciji postopkov reševanja in sanacije je Evropska komisija 22. 9. 2021 sprejela predlog Direktive o vzpostavitvi okvira za sanacijo in reševanje zavarovalnic in pozavarovalnic (IRRD). Predlog in predlagana ureditev se zelo zgledujeta po ureditvi na bančnem področju, ki se je vzpostavila z Direktivo za sanacijo ter reševanje kreditnih institucij in investicijskih podjetij (BRRD). Predlagana ureditev sanacije in reševanja zavarovalnic in pozavarovalnic bo prinesla na evropski in posledično slovenski zavarovalni trg precej novosti in dodatnih obveznosti za industrijo ter tudi državo. Tako bodo zavarovalnice morale pripraviti načrte sanacije in jih vsako leto posodabljati ter usklajevati skupaj z regulatorjem.
