Orthoses are needed by people with various impairments of nervous-system, muscular or skeletal body functions, or movement-related impairments of body functions and structures. By reviewing recent literature and from daily clinical practice, numerous problems arise in the provision of appropriate orthoses at the secondary level. In Slovenia, we should strive to provide the patients with appropriate orthoses by establishing teamwork in the hospitals, where a prosthetics and orthotics engineer would be involved in the prescription and fitting of orthoses. Only in this way all patients in Slovenian hospitals would receive the same treatment and would receive the prescription of appropriate orthoses. This point is illustrated by a case studyOskrba z ustreznimi ortozami je eden od osnovnih posegov v fizikalni in rehabilitacijski medicini. Ortoze potrebujejo ljudje z različnimi okvarami funkcij živčevja, mišičja in okostja in z gibanjem povezanih funkcij ter ljudje z okvarami z gibanjem povezanih zgradb. Ob pregledu literature in iz vsakodnevne klinične prakse se porajajo številne težave pri oskrbi z ustreznimi ortozami na sekundarni ravni. V Sloveniji bi si morali v bodoče prizadevati, da bi bila oskrba z ustreznimi ortozami v bolnišnici timsko delo, pri katerem bi se diplomiran ortotik in protetik vključeval pri predpisu, izdaji in namestitvi ortoz. Le tako bi lahko imeli vsi bolniki v bolnišnicah po Sloveniji enako obravnavo in bili deležni predpisa ustreznih ortoz.
