In the interpretative-analytical research, I justified Kačur‘s death in Cankar’s novel Martin Kačur as a suicide, which I considered from different perspectives. I took into account Schopenhauer’s philosophical tolerance of suicide through the ethics of compassion, Nietzsche’s justification of suicide as an expression of human freedom in the world, Freud’s explanation of the link between the instinct of death and life, and three levels of philosophical belief or mood. These are idealism, nihilism and fatalism, arranged in a constant dialogic relationship, through which we pass from the story to the narrative level. Taking into account realistic (the gradual decline of Kačur) and symbolist poetics (the hallucinatory logic of symbols), I used different classifications to prove suicide, according to which Kačur’s suicide is a subtle combination of egoistic or selfish and logical or nihilistic and meek and unconscious suicide. While the connection between the egoistic and the logical suicide philosophically justifies Kačur’s decision, the combination of involuntary and meek suicide affects the reader’s empathy. With her help, we try not to understand the tragic downfall of the altruistic Kačur, similar to most of Cankar’s main characters, only through the thematization of the unfortunate idealist, but also through the special poetics of (Austrian) modernity, which paid special attention to death at the beginning of the 20th century"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Samomor je v Sloveniji kljub visoki stopnji samomorilnosti še vedno tabu tema, zato sem se mu natančneje posvetila v pregledu filozofskih stališč in klasifikacij prostovoljne smrti. V interpretativno-analitični raziskavi sem Kačurjevo smrt v Cankarjevem romanu Martin Kačur utemeljila kot samomor, ki sem ga premislila z različnih perspektiv. Upoštevala sem Schopenhauerjevo filozofsko strpnost do samomora skozi etiko sočutja, Nietzschejevo upravičenje samomora kot izraza človekove svobode v svetu, Freudovo razlago povezave nagona smrti in življenja ter tri stopnje filozofskega prepričanja oziroma razpoloženja. To so idealizem, nihilizem in fatalizem, razporejeni v nenehno dialoško razmerje, prek katerih prestopamo z zgodbene na pripovedno raven. Pri upoštevanju realistične (postopen propad Kačurja) in simbolistične (slutenjska logika simbolov) poetike sem za dokaz samomora uporabila različne klasifikacije, po katerih je Kačurjev samomor subtilna povezava egoističnega ali sebičnega in logičnega ali nihilističnega ter krotkega in nezavednega samomora. Medtem ko povezava egoističnega in logičnega filozofsko utemelji Kačurjevo odločitev, vpliva preplet nehotenega in krotkega samomora na bralno empatijo. Z njeno pomočjo tragičnega propada altruističnega Kačurja, podobnega večini Cankarjevih glavnih likov, ne poskušamo razumeti samo skozi tematizacijo nesrečnega idealista, ampak tudi s posebno poetiko (avstrijske) moderne, ki je na začetku 20. stoletja smrti namenila posebno pozornost"}],"edm:type":"TEXT","dc:type":[{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"znanstveno časopisje"},{"@xml:lang":"en","#text":"journals"},{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.wikidata.org/entity/Q361785"}]},"ore:Aggregation":{"@rdf:about":"http://www.dlib.si/?URN=URN:NBN:SI:doc-XKRUEFLA","edm:aggregatedCHO":{"@rdf:resource":"URN:NBN:SI:doc-XKRUEFLA"},"edm:isShownBy":{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.dlib.si/stream/URN:NBN:SI:doc-XKRUEFLA/a4ca8e68-d847-43f7-bc8e-8e7ba335c310/PDF"},"edm:rights":{"@rdf:resource":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"},"edm:provider":"Slovenian National E-content Aggregator","edm:intermediateProvider":{"@xml:lang":"en","#text":"National and University Library of Slovenia"},"edm:dataProvider":{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Univerza v Ljubljani, Filozofska fakulteta"},"edm:object":{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.dlib.si/streamdb/URN:NBN:SI:doc-XKRUEFLA/maxi/edm"},"edm:isShownAt":{"@rdf:resource":"http://www.dlib.si/details/URN:NBN:SI:doc-XKRUEFLA"}}}}
