This article is a contribution to the elucidation of the contemporary state of education with reference to ancient Greek tradition. Among the ancient authors I have chosen Aristotle, because his theory of education seldom finds suitable evaluation in the history of pedagogy; among contemporary philosophers I have given priority to Nietzsche, Camus and HannahArendt. The paper is structured as follows: (1) A phenomenological approach to Aristotle's pedagogy (some notes), (2) Nietzsche's ideas on education, (3) Albert Camus and his criticism of the European nihilism with reference to the Greek antiquity, and (4) Hannah Arendt - education as preparation for the task of renewing our common world</dc:description><dc:description xml:lang="sl">Sodobni izobraževalni sistemi so v nenehnem procesu preurejanja, kar zahteva pozoren premislek osnov in zgradbe vzgoje in izobraževanja. Kaj je vzgoja in izobrazba, ni mogoče pojasniti z definicijami, temveč samo v zgodovinski osmislitvi. Ta članek je prispevek k osvetlitvi sedanjega stanja izobraževanjaob navezavi na antično grško tradicijo. Izmed antičnih avtorjev je dana prednost Aristotelu, ker je njegova teorija vzgoje manj poznana, izmedsodobnih filozofov pa so predstavljeni Nietzsche, Camus in Hannah Arendt. Članek ima zato naslednjo členitev: 1. Fenomenološki pristop k Aristotelovi pedagogiki, 2. Nietzschejeve ideje o izobraževanju, 3. Albert Camus in njegova kritika evropskega nihilizma ob navezavi na grško antiko in 4.
