This article attempts to answer the question, in which ways can third country nationals in their new homelands express their interests, requests, demands and participate in political decisionmaking processes. In the context of comparative analysis of different forms of political participation in selected European countries, the author focuses on direct political participation in the electoral process, in which she analyzes voting rights at local and national level, and she also addresses certain other forms of political participation in a civil society (eg. a right to form associations, a right to membership in political parties and right to form their own political party) and possibilities of consultation with local and national authorities. The author notes that political participation is no longer a privilege reserved only for citizens of receiving societies. There are more and more different forms of participation in the context of the political decision-making process now available to immigrants. But at the sametime, the author points out that there are still different national interpretations of the concept of political participation. Thus, some countries are approaching to this issue from a liberal perspective, as for example Finland, which has maintained for its citizens only a right to vote at the national level, while other countries (for example Greece) still stress their position that the political dimension of integration processes and hence also political participation are still reserved only for (naturalized) citizens"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"Članek poskuša odgovoriti na vprašanje, na kakšne načine lahko državljani tretjih držav v svojih novih domovinah izražajo svoje interese, želje in zahteve ter sodelujejo v procesih političnega odločanja. Avtorica se v okviru primerjalne analize različnih oblik politične participacije imigrantov v izbranih evropskih državah osredotoča na neposredno politično participacijo v volilnem procesu, v okviru katere analizira volilno pravico na lokalni in nacionalni ravni, obravnava pa tudi določene druge oblike političnega udejstvovanja v civilni družbi (npr. pravico do ustanavljanja društev, pravico do članstva v politični stranki in pravico do ustanovitve lastne politične stranke) in možnosti posvetovanja z lokalnimi in nacionalnimi oblastmi. Avtorica v članku ugotavlja, da politično udejstvovanje ni več privilegij, rezerviran le za državljane države sprejema, temveč je imigrantom praviloma na voljo vedno več različnih oblik sodelovanja v procesu oblikovanjain sprejemanja političnih odločitev. A hkrati avtorica opozarja, daše vedno obstajajo različne nacionalne interpretacije pojma politična participacija. Tako v nekaterih državah k temu pristopajo zelo liberalno, kot npr. Finska, ki je za svoje državljane ohranila le še volilno pravico na nacionalni ravni, v drugih državah (npr.
