The role of a nurse in the detection, treatment and palliative care are emphasized. The results of the questionnaire on the knowledge of risk factors for ovarian cancer in the region of Ljubljana are presented. The results revealed that women are relatively well acquainted withrisk factors; however, they claim that their knowledge about this malignant disease is not sufficient. However, their familiarity with treatmentmethods is mostly general and superficial"},{"@xml:lang":"sl","#text":"V prispevku je poudarek na dejavnikih tveganja za nastanek raka jajčnikov in poteku bolezni ter vloga medicinske sestre pri odkrivanju, zdravljenju in pri izvajanju paliativne zdravstvene nege. Predstavljeni so rezultati anketnega vprašalnika o poznavanju dejavnikov tveganja za nastanek raka jajčnikov na območju Ljubljane in okolice. Rezultati so pokazali, da so ženske razmeroma dobro seznanjene z dejavniki tveganja, čeprav same menijo, da nimajo dovolj znanja o tej zahrbtni bolezni.
