One of the effective therapeutic options is immunotherapy, which relies on activating the individual's immune system to enable an attack on cancer cells. In this article, we are highlighting the STAT3 protein as a newer target of immunotherapy, along with the use of mRNA molecules. Additionally, the search for new compounds also focuses on the energy metabolism of cancer cells, as it presents several opportunities for developing effective anti-tumor drugs. We focused on three important aspects of cancer cell metabolism that can be targeted for inhibition. The discovery of new targets in cancer therapy raises hope for more effective treatment of patients and reducing the burden of their diseasesV zadnjih letih se število bolnikov z rakom povečuje, kar zahteva nove pristope k zdravljenju. Ena izmed učinkovitih terapevtskih možnosti je imunska terapija, ki temelji na aktivaciji imunskega sistema posameznika, kar omogoča napad na rakave celice. Kot novejšo tarčo imunske terapije v članku izpostavljamo protein STAT3 in uporabo molekule mRNA. Poleg tega pa se iskanje novih učinkovin usmerja tudi v energijski metabolizem rakavih celic, saj ta odpira kar nekaj priložnosti za razvoj učinkovitih protitumorskih zdravil. V prispevku smo se osredotočili na tri pomembne dele metabolizma rakavih celic, ki jih lahko zaviramo.
